What needs to be done so you qualify for the student pricing? I see the OP price when I go straight to the link.

does the SP4 still have bugs and issues to work out? I heard it had more problems than SP3.

They use SheerID verification. You need to be a currently enrolled student or faculty with verifiable documents including Student ID AND current class schedule. Just having the .edu email is not going to cut the mustard on this one.

The compulsive techy in me wants one of these so bad. How do I justify buying this over a much cheaper laptop that performs immensely better, though?

if you do not need to use the pen, don't buy it.

This is an awesome deal, I paid close to $950 and thought that was a steal few months ago

the only complaint I have is that the battery life is not as long as expected. i only get about 3 hours

Just got one in the $900 MicroCenter deal. I was looking at 2 in 1s and the kicker for me was the USB port on the tablet itself so I don't have to lug everything around on the go. So far I love it. Great in my lap, easy to use. I can see myself using this for a few years. I would say get it if you can afford it, but if the extra money is going to really hurt, go for something less expensive. D

If you are using Chrome, switch to Firefox or Edge and you should see a big increase in battery life.
