How do these compare to the QY8 that people go crazy for?

Well I'll let you know when I receive it Smilie I have QY8 and it's somewhat uncomfortable for me and bulky, but you only pay fraction of the price.

I have used daily for commuting for about 2 years and before that had the original Jay birds.

This x2 pair though the metal wiring started shredding through the rubber casing recently after about 2 yrs of usage. I suppose some might say 2yrs is ok, but this is a premium product and they cost $109 when I bought them.

The ear pieces seem to not be any right size for me because they slowly drop out of my ears just sitting on the bus after a while. I didn't have that problem. With my older Sony Ericsson model that was nearly identical. No, I don't use the flanges or whatever they are called, just the normal ear pieces.

However, having said all that, for this price it's still worth it.

I've had these for about six months and after getting used to them (took about a week) they have been awesome. I use them about 2 hours a day at the gym and they last about 6-8 hours between charges. The case is extremely simple to use, not sure what on earth those reviews I found were talking about. I have soaked them in sweat daily and they haven't had any issues.

Occasionally they will stutter, maybe once a week, where the music sounds crackled and breaks up for about 30 seconds. Then it corrects itself and is back to normal. Considering that they never fall out of my ear (criteria one) and that they have excellent acoustics for bluetooth, water resistant headphones (criteria two and three), I would recommend these.

Keep in mind that if you have odd shaped ears you might need to purchase another kit like they sell on amazon of ear buds until you find your correct size. As an anecdote, for the first week my one ear was giving me a lot of discomfort with these headphones. I pushed through and the discomfort went away. It was in the 'blade' that sits in your ear not the ear buds. YMMV but these have performed as expected. I paid about $110-120 IIRC and that was a bargain for the mileage I have gotten so far with running and while lifting without having a cord strapped to me/through my shirt/getting caught on things.

You're thinking of the new freedoms.

I got these and they are uncomfortable to me but some people love them. I got in on the plantronics deal at Costco and those are the best damn bluetooth headphones I've ever had.

Great price and great headphones. The X3s are right around the corner though. Also the hardware EQ on the new X3s is bad ass. I have the new Jay bird Freedoms which have the new hardware EQ built into the ear buds as well and it is simply awesome.
