5400 RPM Hard drive is pathetic. Unacceptable for this price.

If SSD... then it's a good deal.

I'd take the Acer E15 for $549 over this one all day long.

For sure, and it's downright criminal that Apple still uses the same in their HDD models.

Try to avoid Lenovo if you can. I have experienced many issues with Lenovo in the last 2 years. I was a hard core Lenovo fan until 2014. Quality has gone down drastically.

1. Bought Lenovo U510 for my mom. It was working fine during warranty period. Hinges popped and the screen cracked out immediately after warranty period. They should have recalled that model since its a major manufacturing flaw and thousands of people faced that issue(don't believe me? Search online and you will see tons of forums for that issue). In fact my mom has never travelled with that laptop and she always handles the laptop carefully and has never dropped that laptop.

2. Purchased 3 other lenovo thinkpadsT430s. One for me, one for my wife and another for my aunt. Batteries is not holding the charge after 12 months for all of us. CD rom didn't work after warranty for any of us(firmware updates didn't help as well). I also have an old thinkpad manufactured by IBM which still boots, battery still holds the charge and the cd drive works just fine. Thinkpad's manufactured by Lenovo's are made of cheap plastic and if you try opening the laptop to clean the fan, you won't be able to put that back again without cracking your laptop. It is that bad. IBM shouldn't have sold their laptop manufacturing division to company like Lenovo.

This is not a coincidence. It's pure negligence by lenovo. You won't get the quality for the money you pay for. I have proof for everything that I said.

Price looks good but the specs are not enough for me. Can anyone tell me what a good price on i7, min 16 ram preferred 32 ram, 4k output capable, with reasonable battery life should be around? Trying to replace my desktop. Currently using i7-3930k 6-core@3.2, 32GB with 2GB video card. I use 10-12GB of ram and CPU is always between 13-20% usage. I don't expect a crazy battery life under heavy usage, but want more than 3 hours for website surfing. (heavy data analysis, photo/video editing, lite gaming) Early thanks to the guru that replies.

If you are OK with refurbed units, you can get a laptop with better specs (960m which is about 15% faster than the 950m, hybrid 1tb vs pure mechanical 1tb) for ~$486 after tax. Use Dell Outlet chat and ask for an inspiron 7559 with 960m and 1 yr limited warranty, with the weekly 30% off coupon. It's a very painless process. Possible upgrades for not much more include 4k touchscreen, SSD instead of hybrid drive, or an i7 CPU. See here for more details: http://slickdeals.net/f/8946059-refurbished-dell-inspiron-15-7559-core-i5-6300hq-8gb-ddr3-1tb-hybrid-drive-gtx-960m-4gb-15-6-1080p-ips-417-80-at-dell-outlet

I work on computers for a living, every brand has issues with the casing and hinges breaking, other than dell, seem to be the only brand that doesn't have weird issues. Also have had good luck with acer.
