Get mine free from work. Also check the Microsoft HUP promo to see if you can get it for $20 or $10. Otherwise, this is a good deal. Thumbs up.

It is a program where employers subsidize purchases of Microsoft software for home use that is already licensed by the company for work use.

That's not good blanket advice. If you don't qualify for a discount like HUP or thru a school, it may be cheaper to rent. You can get a one year license for 5 computers for $100. That gives you everything in Office Professional, which is $400 for 1 computer. Even if you only need what's in the Home version, that's over $200 for one computer. Assuming you ever plan to upgrade, you'll save money in the long run renting.

^^^THIS^^^ Best advice for those of us not employed, no longer in school, and/or don't have the unlimited funds that some have.
+ for you.

If I already have a subscription good for 6 more months, can I extend it with this?

Sorry, but it is good advice, and doing so will ultimately not end well for any consumer. It's good for MS and crap companies like Adobe, not end users.

Also, believe me I say that I know all about MS's "screw you" pricing and the $100 plan; these companies are NOT your "friend".

I'll say it again..... Don't rent software.

check ebay, the 5 user licenses are ~$40ish or get a 1 user license and convert it to 5 user (you get 9 months instead of 12 in this case).

Thanks! I'll do this. I currently pay MS $6.xx/month for Office 365 Individual plan, which has worked out well for me. But, your suggestion looks pretty good, and I'll definitely check it out. I don't care for Norton Antivirus, and wouldn't use it, so this deal really isn't for me anyway. I use BitDefender as my Antivirus. + for you.
