Here is the official page: https://www.lyft.com/starbucks. Scroll down all the way to the bottom of the page to find more info on the Lyft Gift Card promo.

Offer valid 08/09/16 - 11/09/2016.

Get yourself a $20 Lyft Gift Card at a participating Starbucks Store and get a $5 Starbucks Gift Card as bonus. So you pay $20 and get $25. That's a 25% bonus.

And you can always pay for this with Chase Freedom Card and get 5% Cash Back until the end of September.

That's the simple version. If you want more value, look at the additional tips/info after FAQs.

FAQs: https://www.lyft.com/giftcard
  • You can buy as many Lyft Gift Cards as you wish and load them all to one or more Lyft accounts. They stack.
  • Lyft Gift Cards never expire.
  • Do gift card amounts roll over? Yes! If the full $20 isn't used on one ride, the remainder is applied to your next ride.
  • Can I use a gift card to tip? Just like all Lyft credits, tips are not covered and will always be charged to the credit card associated with your account.

Want more value?

UPDATE: The stars did not show up today (after 24 hours) and I called the Customer Service and was told that Gift Card Purchases do not earn Stars. However, as a one-time exception, they added the Stars for me. The Barista at the Starbucks Store where I purchased the Lyft Gift Card from clearly didn't know what she was talking about then.

And to get the Stars, this might be a lot of trouble to go through for some. So I think it's still easier to just pay for the Lyft Gift Card with Chase Freedom and earn 5% Cash Back.

Now, if you have a Starbucks Account/Card, you can get more value out of this deal.

Simply pay for the whole $20 Lyft Gift Card purchase with your Starbucks Credit/Fund and earn 40 stars. And for Starbucks Gold Members, if you buy this on a double-stars day, you'll get 80 stars!

The value of these stars vary, depending on what you redeem them for. Each redemption costs you 125 stars.
  • For example, a Venti Frappuccino (one of the most expensive drinks) here in Chicago, the after-tax price is $5.52.
  • For this, the $/star you get is $5.52 / 125 stars = $0.04416/star.
  • If you pay the whole $20 Lyft Gift Card with your Starbucks Credit/Fund, you essentially would earn = 40 stars x $0.04416/star = $1.7664 or $3.5328 on a double-stars day.
One way to look at this - in the end you'd get:
  • $20 Lyft Gift Card + $5 Starbucks Gift Card + $1.7664 - pay $20 = $6.7664 bonus or 33.83% bonus.
  • or on a Double-Stars Day: $20 Lyft Gift Card + $5 Starbucks Gift Card + $3.5328 - pay $20 = $8.5328 bonus or 42.67% bonus.
Want even more value? Reload your Starbucks Account with discounted Starbucks Cards available online on many sites, or Groupon (which sometimes sell discounted Starbucks Gift Cards), etc before buying the Lyft Gift Card(s).

Groupon sells Starbucks gift card only 2x a year.

But, please fix your title, it's not accurate at all. There is 0% savings when buying the $20 gift card from Starbucks.

You're getting $5 or more Starbucks CREDIT when you purchase, that's not the same as 34-43% off $20.

Changed to Bonus. Thanks for the suggestion.

And you don't need to use Groupon to get the Bonus. Use Groupon only to enhance the bonus value to over 34-43%.

not exactly, this is just cross over marketing and crappy at that. Getting a free coffee for buying a $20 gift card is ridiculous.

I can only confirm to you for sure tomorrow (because Stars take up to 24 hours until they show up in your Starbucks Account). But I did ask the Barista before paying and she confirmed that I would earn Stars if paying with my Starbucks Card.

And attached are the Screenshot from my Starbucks App and a Description from the Starbucks website on Earning Stars. There's a big chance this purchase is eligible for Stars as well.

Yes. And your $5 Promo Credits will be used first before the Gift Card Balance. I had 4x $5 Promo Credits earlier along with the $20 Gift Card Balance and the Promo Credit was used first.

Not sure and it varies from one Gold Member to another. Check this Starbucks Q&A: https://customerservice.starbucks.../a_id/3979

If you are a Gold member, once a month, on your designated Double-Star Day, you will earn 4 Stars for every $1 spent.

Each month, we'll surprise Gold members with a different day to earn double Stars, so opt into email to know when your day is coming.
Looks like you'll have lots of Starbucks drinks to cool you down in Vegas woot

Thanks for the info! I'm not into Starbucks, but I share a giant one with the wife when she gets one. She's got a starbucks card that I load up with whatever 50% off deals I find, so she has about $90 bucks to spend for this deal! I'm confused how many discounts this is going to add up to, but it's a lot! Smilie
