Looks solid...it appears to come with a full function remote with qwerty, which is definitely a plus. I assume it's a 60Hz panel with some "fluff" in the effective rates? There's just too much chaos with all the 4k sets lately, I'm going to wait a few years to see how the available content pans out.

Is this a good deal? How does this compare to the E55-D0 with the slickdeals rebate? Might jump on this

it's a pretty good deal. This is very similar to the "E" series except this one uses Vizio Apps to stream content. The E series uses Smart cast (a phone/tablet with Smartcast App) is needed. I was all over the "E" at $370 until I discovered that. keep in mind there are places that will buy your Dell gift card at a small loss to you...just in case you can't see yourself buying anything else at Dell in the future.

Think I might jump on the M55 over both these two. What do you think?

What's wrong with smart cast? Actually seems kind of cool compared to a regular remote

M55 offers slightly better image quality for a price premium. This D55 is a much better value. I'd get the D55 myself.

I think the 4K resolution is a useless marketing gimmick unless you're talking computer monitors or are sitting 4 feet from the set. At typical viewing distances you can't tell the difference between 4K and 1080p on a 55" TV (or really any TV smaller than 90-100").

The M55 offers better image quality at a significant price premium (once you subtract the value of the gift card). The 4K resolution doesn't look any better than 1080p at typical viewing distances. I'd go with the D55 myself.

I have last year's E65 which is basically identical to the current D65, so not this exact model but pretty similar. I love it, it looks great, I'd get it again.

Only complain is a minor issue introduced by a firmware update: I use the USB port to power LED backlighting and since the update the USB port only powers down every other time I turn the TV off.

Could you say what those places are, and how much of a loss we're talking about? I never buy from Dell anymore, so the uselessness of the gift card keeps me from jumping in these deals.

I'd like to know this as well if someone can fill me in on this.

This particular model has backlight bleeding defect.
I worked with Vizio directly to replace it. ( Best buy wanted to charge me $100 for technical visit)
Got refurbished unit at first - power board died within a week.
Second unit was a new, but backlight bleed again + vertical green line on the screen.
Ugh...

So save your time and money. Go for M series in different thread
