I've been looking for a pair of hiking boots for the trails, not backpacking or anything. These are categorized as backpacking boots. Would they still be good for short hikes in the woods?

I have used them on plenty on trails, as well as when then trail ends. They are extremely comfortable, and I don't have any complaints after 300+ miles

I'd recommend the Mid Ultra II GTX instead.

Lower profile (shaft/ankle length) and lighter......the Quest 4D 2 GTX is for more serious backpacking.Smilie

Thanks. Was looking at these at REI for $230. However, according to CCC, the lowest price has been $99.99 on at least two occasion for the grey pair.
