Am I the only one who thinks the "Opt out of free returns to save $10" thing is shady as hell?

Oh, but we shouldn't worry, because if we need to return it we can still do so for the low low price of $28?

Agreed. Last GPU I got was from Amazon who made it super easy to do an exchange when I had a problem. Worth paying a little extra just for that, to me.

Yeah, Amazon is great on returns. Being able to have the new part in 1-2 days before having to send in the old part is great. I try to buy all my tech from them.

Shame that Jet doesn't seem to accept Paypal.

How is it shady? You can still return an item if there is a defect.

You can send it back for three times the discount you get for declining free returns. The fact that they're offering such a discount makes me suspicious that they get a lot of returns. An unscrupulous merchant could make a profit from sending out faulty merchandise.

And if they're passing the discount onto the consumer, why are we only getting a $10 discount instead of the $28 it actually costs for shipping?

Realistically, it's just designed to force you to go through the manufacturer RMA process instead of just returning it to the merchant for a replacement as you would with Amazon or Newegg or anyone else.

Newegg and Amazon...but more so Newegg does this but in a different way. They do rebates. jet.com isn't an authorized dealer for products but with rebates, you can't return the product if you cut out the UPC code from the packaging. This is why I usually wait close to the rebate deadline before sending it out in case there is something wrong with the new purchase and I can return it instead of go through the horrific manufacturer warranty process.
