This comes at $450 sale often at Microsoft store. $499 is hands down.

Get it while you can, this is a great laptop. Long battery, incredible ips glossy screen, backlit, QuickStart up. All around performer.

looking to get a laptop that'll last me ~2 years for computer science

if i upgrade the ram to 16gb and replace with a SSD (if possible) will it be a decent budget machine?

the weight is a bit on the heavy side but I drive to a small private college so I think it'll be manageable.

Not sure why you would need to upgrade the ram, but adding an ssd will surely do wonders.
