Fry's has LG 65UF6450 [frys.com] for $697 after promo code, in store pickup only. They also have a few other models for decent prices including the 55 inch mode [frys.com]l for $469 that was posted with a SD rebate yesterday for $510.

I believe these are decent budget model TV's. I'll be picking up the 65 inch for my basement.

Use the code from your 8/25 e-mail.

Standard warning here:
This is a 3k TV - LG is using useless white pixels
60hz - bad for sports and motion the 120 motion rate will not work.
This is edge-lit and not equipped with local dimming so you will get muddy grey blacks

Very good price. However I heard that buying electronics (TV's) from Frys is not recommended. Someone mentioned that Fry's is buying TV's that either did not pass quality control or something in this nature. I'd rather get it from Best Buy or Amazon.

I have LG's last plasma ever made, manufactured in May 2014, that I purchased from Fry's brand new. I have my day one ps4, day one xbox one and day one wii u hooked up to it. Never had a problem. Between my son and I, it gets a lot of use.

I'll add my personal experience as well.. bought a Panasonic 60" plasma a few years back and have yet to have any issues. Picture still looks great! Where did you hear that from anyway?

So you're not even going to offer a rant or anecdote to support this claim? Please kindly refrain from posting such drivel again.

Indiana stores are sold out of everything but the 65" models.

there have been numerous posters on Slickdeals saying they bought new and received refurbished or used units

never had an issue myself, but I think that's what the other dude was trying to say

This doesn't make sense at all. Why would a manufacturer even agree to sell units that failed QA, since it's all going to come back to them if the units fail within the warranty period.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet!

Total horseshit. LG wouldn't sell such TVs. Manufacturer warranty applies to the TVs Frys sells, there's nothing different about them. That said, if you're a Costco member definitely buy a SquareTrade warranty from them for any HDTV purchase you make, it's cheap insurance in case the TV breaks in a few years. You don't have to buy the TV from Costco to buy the warranty.

The differences between a $700 TV and a $2K TV can range from type of display (OLED vs. LED vs. Plasma), type of panel (IPS vs. VA), quality of panel, resolution, features, smart vs. dumb TVs, etc. etc. etc.

primarily a better picture
secondarily it will typically have a higher feature set

That s at a high level..because if you start throwing different types of display types in there ..OLED..LCD..it starts to get muddy

I actually have gotten a refurb sold as new from frys. I also got an item that was returned back and it had a different item inside. They did take it back. I just have a difficult time trusting them myself. I think it's something to think about when shopping there.
