That is probably like the one I have. It's the model Dropcam sold before Nest bought the company.

I think there was also the Pro model (all black) before they sold.

Keep in mind these have monthly fees to use most of the features.

So if you don't pay the monthly subscription, nothing is recorded?

I pay $10.00 a month for a 10 day video history. You can make video clips, so I just make a video of anything I want to keep. Problem I have with mine is that it won't switch back to daytime mode once it switches to night mode. So I just leave it in daytime mode all the time. Have it to monitor pet, so pet is normally sleeping when the lights are out anyway.

Correct, that's what swayed me away from these previously.

Nothing is retained for over a day if you don't pay. You will get notifications of activity and can look at the camera live at anytime without paying.

I have trail cameras in the yard, and messing with SD cards are a pain in the butt. You have to transfer the files off the card to your computer and then look at each individual file to see what's on it. Then delete or save it. It's worth the $10.00 a month to not have to deal with that.

I like Foscam better since I can do my own storage. It supports FTP, and I can easily link a folder to a cloud.
