Incredible camera and a grey market price that may be tempting.. I would hate to give up the Nikon warranty and have the chance that Nikon US will not repair it down the road..

No, that's the D5. The D500 can do 29 minutes.

This was even corrected in the D5 with a firmware update.

Still available. Can't believe this isn't getting more attention. Best APC camera in existence, recently released and more than 20% off.

Problem is it can't be serviced in the USA because Nikon USA wont work on grey-market bodies and for the D500 Nikon doesn't supply testing rigs, software, or parts to any third-party service centers. The listing says 1-year warranty but I'm not sure how they'll be able to service the body.

shame Nikon cannot take canon lenses...I'd rather compromise on body then lens.

Canon has a few spectacular FX lenses (Nikon does too) but for DX lenses both brands are very equal.

Got my D500 in today from this deal. I was unsure about upgrading from my D7100 but after 30 minutes playing with it this was so worth it. It's SO much easier switching controls around, the touch screen is awesome, and the FPS is out of this world. Going from the D7100's crippled buffer to the D500s pro-level buffer is unbelievable.

Thanks for the review. I'm considering a d5500 to d500 jump and the $1589 deal is very captivating. Based on a decade of shooting digital on all sorts of Nikons I notice the warranties are more vital when it comes to lenses than bodies

I've been shooting for 11 years and haven't had an issue yet on body or lens (knock on wood). Nikon will work on grey market if there are widespread issues like on the D800. Also, 6-9 months from now they will start selling parts to 3rd parties which will make the camera serviceable. Yes, there is a risk but I'm a risk taker.
