Yes, over the Fire stick, but not at this price.

This was $69.99 @ Best Buy and Staples just 3 weeks ago, and $69.99 during Amazon Prime Day

It depends I guess. I bought the stick initially for Plex and there always seemed to be stuttering or something that wasn't quite right with the video. I picked up a fire TV on prime day for 75 and the video is perfect and menu response is instant. I wished I bought the TV first. I guess the stick will be used when traveling.

It has faster response than the Stick. I have been using the stick for over a year and just brought the FireTV 4k a few weeks ago (it was $70 at BB). For streaming high bit rate video from my NAS, the FireTV definitely works better than the Stick and my other Android boxes.

This runs the Plex client, you still need to have a Plex server...

I just got the Samsung KS8000 4K TV, which I believe has an Amazon app built in.

Any advantages of a Fire TV box over what I've got? And would I still be able to pass through 5.1 with it?
