I'm sure it is for 150% more money... This is a $20 phone. There's also activation and a $50 rebate involved in the other deal.

I've used a 640 as my backup phone for almost a year. It's actually a very decent phone and a steal at $20. The Winphone app store is pretty minimal when it comes to apps but you should be able to find enough to satisfy most people.

OUR VERDICT

With a 5-inch 720p screen, quad-core processor, strong battery life and excellent camera the Lumia 640 is Windows Phone's answer to the Moto G. For friends, family and everyone in general, you'd have real trouble doing better than this.

I've been using my 640 on/off since released 2 years ago and it's still the best bang-for-the-buck sub $100. phone. Pros: excellent call quality, very good battery life, camera on par with a iPhone 5S (yes, I have both), tiles are fast and smooth. While the lack of app may be a problem for some, the ones I use are available: FB, YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp, Yelp, Groupon, Netflix, and PicsArt (excellent photo image processing) which I use on my Surface tab.

Im not sure why the thumbs down on this deal. Ive been using this phone for almost a year. As others have stated, it has exceptional battery life and clear calls. Im totally happy with mine and I'm a tech minded consumer (someone that knows how to use a smartphone). If you are ok not having Pokemon go and tinder, then this phone will be just fine. You can make tile shortcuts that work like a lot of apps for finance and many other common websites.

Pretty much every comment before yours explains. For people renewing with Cricket, it's a great deal, though.
