Edit: Apparently the coupon prints as "any FROZEN grilled and ready"... hot dog section bags are not frozen...

You folks almost inspire me enough to want to go shopping again.

3 things i wanted to share with you guys

This first thing i can't take credit i saw it mentioned in the printable coupons thread. If you go to winco facebook page and click the do us a flavor there you will find a $3/2 and $1/1 Lays coupon. I missed the ones on coupon network so i was super excited that these were still available. It prints with winco's name on the side but on the top it say manufacturer coupon. I don't know if the price changed but these were $2 8-31 at my commi. O and you might want to try to print in chrome or firefox, IE didn't work for me

Second thing, I know several people talked about the fisher coupon. The place where i had found this $1 coupon was from one of the coupon books/magazines the commi put out this coupon expire october 15.I don't know if this is the same coupon others were referencing But today i found basically the same coupon hanging on the shelf and it doesn't expire until december 2012. I put in a special order for the $1 trail mix since i have plenty of time for them to come in now.

Third thing, all crystal light at my commi was $1. Wish i had coupons

Thanks for the HU! We drink tons of this stuff and $1 for CL is a great price. I had to dig through my Qs and finally found my $1/2 CL TearPads that they had out a while back. Only have 3, wish I had more. Hope I find the same the price.

I just read this article on Military.com about the drinking water contamination at Lejuene. Here it is. [military.com] Horrible. And this is the reason they want to make the commissary for profit. Too bad the people who covered it all up weren't held responsible for it all.

Sounds a lot like NAS, Jacksonville, FL. We were there for 5 years, 92-97. They didn't begin clean-up of much of the contaminated areas until '97 and '98.

When we first moved there, I was healthy as a horse. I developed thyroid issues, low white-cell count, pancreatic problems, and gallbladder problems, all while living in base housing. I have had numerous CT scans, MRI's, blood tests, surgeries (including thyroid removal, gallbladder removal, ovarian cyst removal, appendectomy, pancreatic stent), and one bone marrow biopsy.

No one will ever, EVER, convince me that living on base did not cause this. Many of our neighbors and their children had/have health problems as well.

Too bad the Navy was/is so good at denial. Sounds like the Marine Corps is just as "talented".

I tried to sign up and see exactly what it was but I ended up locking myself out of my AKO email addy. That's what I get for never ever using it. So I am not sure how legit it is. Anyone else familiar with it?

Also interesting was this article on coupon shopping at the commissary found HERE [military.com]. I found it interesting that someone actually found a booklet in the commissary concerning DeCA's policy on redemption. I also noticed that a coupon does not require an expiration date. Isn't this a change from past policy??

I am sorry MsGal. I know you've been through a lot, health wise. Has there ever been any water testing done there?

I do recall, somewhere in the cobwebby recesses of my mind, a conversation with an ex Navy officer about "polluting" somewhere out west back in the same time frame. Dang if I can't remember where though...NM maybe???

I know there was some concerns at Fort Bragg about the infant mortality rate...last year was it?? By this point in time, we should be environmentally aware enough to know not to dump oil in the ground or water or such......I wonder if they ever got to the cause of the issues there. I guess it's pretty hard to figure out the root if you're too busy denying it all.

You know what the saddest part about it is, Dawn? We didn't HAVE to move into base housing. We had a really cute little townhome out in town, about 12 minutes from the base. It was totally affordable and we had great neighbors.

We moved because my husband was about to deploy for 9 months to Iceland and he wanted us to be "safe" while he was gone. He felt like base housing was much "safer".

I don't blame him ... just the military. They knew. They knew all along that there were problems.

Bless his heart. One would think that you would be safe on base. I wonder if they were dumping jet engine oil improperly too. I wonder.....Have you seen THIS [epa.gov]??
