Good question - we just found out this morning so it's still a new thing - not really sure of much right now. Only thing I've googled so far is that there don't seem to be any Charter schools or anything other than normal public schools and that scares me for my son! Would be ok for my daughter but not my boy

(oh yeah and no Walgreens for 22 miles!)

Yep. About 150 miles away from me. Ft. Leonardwood is my second closest commissary. I have never been there though. Been past it many times.

I think it is somewhat in the middle of nowhere. I think Krogers is in the area - and maybe Walmart - but not a whole lot. Pretty close to Lake of the Ozarks. From reports - commissary seems pretty coupon friendly (kind of sort of...)

One per purchase would be one per each item purchased. One per household would be one per each household. But I would think One per purchase / household would be one per each item purchased per household....which kind of goes back to one per purchase.

I've always heard it called "Fort Lost-in-the-Woods" I can't help on positive things for there because DH had the chance to go there and when I did my research, everyone was negative so we didn't take it. Haven't heard good things about the commissary either. Wish I could give you good news jbrowns

I've never been there and the only person I know who has, was writing to me while there for Basic, so I'm not going to count that...

I'm just going to guess it will be a bit more hot and humid than you're currently used to...

I've got to say though, a little humidity can be a nice thing. The multiple spots on my fingers that were cracked open from dryness (packing paper just makes the problem worse) have all nicely healed this past week. Of course, the high here so far has only been (I think) 78 degrees. It did feel about as hot in the apartment as my house in CO when it's in the high 80's though. I hope we find a rental house soon, this apartment is tiny. At least the dogs aren't barking a terrible amount and so far, nobody has seemed to care that we have 2 dogs that are just "a little" over the 25 pound size limit...

LOL thats the same thing we call it.

and as far as good things to say....I dont have one....DH hated it every time he has gone for tdy and training.but DH hates most places...cell phone service is deplorable...for just about all carriers...all i can say is Good Luck you can find good in anything...

Hi all! I continue to lurk, but thought I'd pop in. HD, my hubby also has a "controlled tour" - non-deployable teaching position, although the length of his is like 4 years. I think we still have two or three years left on it, funny thing is, he actually wouldn't mind getting deployed for the experience! I would mind, of course, but then our AF deployments are only 6 months or less.

Also, my hubby didn't pass one of the components of his PT test this morning.. so now we have that to deal with, and trying to make sure it doesn't affect his EPR, etc.. thought you gals might understand a bit more than most! What a headache. Not to mention a great way to set the mood for our vacation next week!

Okay, they know we plan on collecting retirement at age 41 once he's put in his twenty years, right?! They better not change this, I'd be a pretty unhappy camper.

I was driving home yesterday and stopped at McDoanld's for an ice tea. I went to the drive up. Briefly considered going in to use the bathroom - but thought "Nah... I will wait until I get home."

A few miles down the highway - the car starts to handle funny, I see the Low Tire Pressure light come on - and my back tire went completely flat.

Called roadside assisitance - they said someone would be there in an hour.

Now I had the tea I had put in on top of the tea I still hadn't gotten rid of to deal with.

Luckily - there was a small wooded area by the road. So I thought - I will just slip in there.

But the thing about wooded areas - is once you get in there - you can still see the road - so you are not quite sure if the road can still see you...

So I had to decide - In case someone CAN see me - which part do I want them to see ? I didn't want to show my butt.... But then again.... if I turned the other way - they could see my face.... So I figured well dang - if they see anything - it would be better to show them my butt -

So I decided to aim my butt toward the road - figuring that if they saw that part they would be less likely to recognize me at Walmart....
