** We would like to welcome HawiianDawn as the new OP **.

Please thank
thelahaiesfamil for all of her hard work in this thread.**

Being a military spouse has its many challenges. One of the challenges is trying to feed your family on a limited income. I thought it would be helpful to the many of us SD'rs out there that are military or military spouses to have an official Deca/ Commissary thread. There are so many great deals and YMMV by store, but at least here you may be able to look for a deal that you might not have known about before. I HTH someone save a little for thier family!! Enjoy! Smilie

Wow, that's crazy and yet doesn't surprise me at all.
I would have to say that there are a bunch of wonderful people there. But then there is still an undercurrent of bad feelings toward coupon use by some employees. I don't think it is against coupon use in general, as it is against those of us who use a lot of coupons.

Back in the day we really had to fight to get them to stop bullying us so much for using coupons. This thread was SO supportive and SO helpful. We were here to support each other though the process.

I THINK it has improved quite a bit on base. But I can never be sure, because I only know how they treat me. And, based on what I have heard from some people, I think that certain employees still pull their judgmental behavior when they think they can get by with it.

They have apparently had some problems with misuse of coupons there too. So anytime they have to crack down on that... people can go a little overboard.

I was surprised to hear that people are still able to stack coupons at the commissary. But I was talking to a couple girls who were telling me about all the wonderful deals they were getting on base - and how they could use a manufacturer's coupon AND a military coupon on the same item. EEK!

I told them that stacking is not supposed to be allowed - and that military store coupons ARE manufacturer coupons. However, I am not sure if they are willing to give up such "good deals", as long as the cashiers allow them to stack the coupons.

Scott does have a lot of great employees. But they need some consistency. The coupons you are able to use should not be contingent on who happens to be working that day. It is either valid coupon use or it is not. Period. If it is valid, it should be valid no matter who is working. If it is not valid, it should be not valid no matter who is working.

I ran by there today and picked up a few things. The cashier told me I couldn't use a $1 Lindsay olive coupon on a 99 cent can of items "because the item was less than the coupon."

I only had one question for him - "Are you new here?"

Yes. He was. Smilie He really didn't know.

I am not sure if it is just at Scott - or other places too.

But I found Cedar's Spinach Dip for $1.45. (25 cent coupons on tear pad). (Over by the salad stuff)
This might just be at my base because they expire 12/11.

Smucker's peanut butter and chocolate - 12 ounce .39 cents.
YUMMY! Licklips

Watch out on these. Some expire April 2013. Some expired in July 2012. I am sure the peanut butter and chocolate would still be good - but for stocking up, I head for the not expired yet food.

You would think they would give the new cashiers (or all for that matter) a quick course in the do's and don'ts of couponing. I mean the least they could do if they don't want to take the time to train them is to give them a cheat sheet with basic coupon knowledge so they can be more confident in the proper policy. But yes, consistency would be great!!

Speaking of coupons....
Did you know that you can use manufacturer coupons that are printed in grocery sale flyers? (The manufacturer coupons; not the store coupons....)
This week Shop N Save has a Man Q for $3 off wyb 1 Velveeta and 2 cans of Rotel.
I see Market Place (Columbia) has a coupon for $5 / 5 Oscar Meyer Cold cuts, hot dogs, turkey bacon, fully cooked bacon, thick cut bacon, lunchables, and Claussen Pickles. nod
(I wish it included cheese...)

Some are and some aren't. Make sure it says Manufacturer coupon. And that it doesn't say "Redeemable ONLY at." It is okay if it says "Redeem at" - but it can't have the exclusive wording of ONLY.

If you look at the bar codes for store coupons and manufacturer coupons, it is usually pretty easy to tell them apart.

wave Everyone LTNP Big Grin.

There is a $1.25 off Dixie PerfeTouch Cups HERE [dixie.com], the last time I looked at the price on these (which was over the weekend) they were $1.49, so cheap after coupon. There is also a $0.75 off coupon HERE [dixie.com]

Be on the lookout for the $0.75 wishbone salad dressing hangtag commissary Q, these are $1.75 each so only $1 after Q. I'm sure it's a YSMV on the coupons.

Nivea Lip Care are priced at $1.25 each there is a $3/2 Nivea Lip Care Q (12/2/12) RP = FREE with overage

$2 off 2 Glade Holiday Solids printable Coupon [facebook.com] i haven't check the commissary yet this week to see if they do have the Holiday ones but this is still a gr8 Q to use Smilie.

Bic Soleil Bella disposable Razors are on Sale for $3.78
Print $2 off Bic Soleil Bella [facebook.com] = $1.78 each

HTH's

Quick ? I know I use to use the Wags RR's when we were stationed at DMAFB in AZ, but my friend went sometime in May and was told they no longer honor them. Same goes here on McGuireAFB they will not take them. Is anyone else having this problem at their base?

TIA

Well I hope he feels better and y'all have a super time on Friday. hug

I've been trying to order the 12 packs but the site is so slow! Plus it now says in the site that the limit is one per customer. Mad I ordered bunches last year.

HD - I finally got a phone. But it is a smart phone and so it will take me 75 years to figure it all out.

I have also actually gone shopping again. (But I went to Walmart tonight and so I am about ready to crawl back in my cave again).

What a sweet tribute you paid to your husband on facebook for your anniversary. heart
