** We would like to welcome HawiianDawn as the new OP **.

Please thank
thelahaiesfamil for all of her hard work in this thread.**

Being a military spouse has its many challenges. One of the challenges is trying to feed your family on a limited income. I thought it would be helpful to the many of us SD'rs out there that are military or military spouses to have an official Deca/ Commissary thread. There are so many great deals and YMMV by store, but at least here you may be able to look for a deal that you might not have known about before. I HTH someone save a little for thier family!! Enjoy! Smilie

IMPORTANT COUPONING INFO:
Subject = ScotchBrite Coupon

Message
Hi.
I accessed your website and found a $1 off any one product coupon that
expires June 30, 2010. I tried to use the coupon today and was told the coupon is
"fraudulent." However, I found it on your website.
Are you not honoring the coupon you posted?
It certainly is embarrassing to have someone tell me the coupon I got from
a manufacturer's website is fraudulent.
Thanks,
XXXX XXXX

Dear xxxx,

Thank you for contacting 3M regarding our Scotch-Brite(TM) internet printed
coupons.

It is up to the retailers as to which coupons they will accept. This is
still an active coupon. We suggest you try another retailer.

If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

Best Regards,

Patron Comments: I was told I could not use my Scotch-Brite coupons at the
XXXX AFB commissary because the coupons are fraudulent. The coupons were
obtained from: http://www.3m.com/us/home_leisure...nailsaver/
The current coupon is:
http://www.3m.com/us/home_leisure...coupon.pdf The
coupon available when I printed my coupons was the same coupon, except it
was for $1 off one product. Can you tell me what is fraudulent about these
coupons? Is 3m not honoring them? It certainly is embarrassing to be accused
of trying to use fraudulent coupons when I got the coupons from the
manufacturer's website. Thank you

Dear Ms. XXX

Thank you for accessing the Defense Commissary Agency's web site with your
concern. I apologize for any inconvenience you experienced at the XXX
Commissary.

I cannot tell you why the commissary did not accept your coupon; when a
commissary informs you a coupon is counterfeit, we expect them to be able to
show you the notice. I researched the counterfeit coupon alerts we have
provided to the commissaries and did not find one for Scotch-Brite brand
products.

I am copying Ms. xxxx, Scott Store Director, on this e-mail. I
suggest you contact her at xxx-xxx-xxxx to set up an appointment to meet
with her on your next visit to discuss the specifics of your coupon and the
items presented for purchase.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to address this issue. I encourage
you to continue to take advantage of your commissary benefit and the 30
percent plus overall savings. If you need assistance in the future, please
do not hesitate to contact Ms. xxxx or any member of her management
staff.

Sincerely,

xxxxxxxxx

Walgreens RR CAN be used at the Commissary, see below:

Ms. Lxxxxx,

I don't see anything in the fine print limiting redemption to Walgreen’s,
although naturally they want you to use it there since the promotional money
is being provided for their company! So, yes, the commissary can accept
this.

I just wanted to remind everyone that the old vouchers expire 12.31.12. I know the commissary said they would honor them after that date but the commissary has really gone downhill, IMO, as far as looking out for it's patrons. So I say use 'em if you have 'em.
I took 27 vouchers today. I gave 2 of them to my favorite bagger. Actually, I gave him one and told him if he bought something for his daughter (my second favorite bagger) I would give him another one. I got to meet his wife too. She was nice. They have FIVE daughters. Bigeye Can you even imagine the hormone whirlwinds at that house sometimes? I told the head bagger wonderful things about him the other day, so he came over to thank me while he was shopping (and offered to get something off the top shelf for me).

Anyway, that still left me with $625 in vouchers... and my order only took about $60 after coupons. So I decided to get gift cards. There were no exclusions on the vouchers that said they couldn't be used on gift cards - but every time I have asked to convert my vouchers to gift cards, they tell me I can't do that - that I have to SPEND them.
Uhmmm - I am spending them. I am spending them on gift cards.

The guy from CS totally understood - buy 11 $50 gift cards and pay for them with the vouchers. But the head of CS came over and told me NO. She kept saying "I can't give you cash for all those!" I kept trying to explain I did not want cash. I wanted commissary gift cards. She kept telling me that my order wasn't enough.
Uhmmm... I know... because I haven't bought the gift cards yet.

Then she told me that I needed to buy candy and spend them one at a time to get CASH back.

Head Bang

Why in the world would the head of CS prefer to have you stand there cashing out 25 vouchers one at a time and taking CASH out of the commissary, when the patron is willing (and has requested to) convert them to gift cards that have to be spent in the commissary.

I think she had in her head that I wanted cash... and so that is what she kept referring to.

She told me that scanning them wouldn't work, but she had the CS guy try - and they worked - so he rang up 11 gift cards... It worked fine.

But I imagine the word will be out that I was trying to get $600 of cash from the commissary (without buying candy.....) laugh out loud

Maybe I should have done it her way... then I could have taken a picture of me and 25 candy bars and $550 cash - and posted it on DeCA facebook page... with a title of "I wanted gift cards, but the commissary made me buy candy and take cash..."

I guess I am shopping again.... nod

My base had famous fudge kits and chocolate pie kits for $2.09. I got some baklava too (for $1.50)

the longer I shopped the more desert I bought... LMAO

I used some old 75 cents off lettuce or tomatoes wyb taco bell coupons. I got the smallest roma tomatoes I could find, in case they wanted to scan each tomato separately to use my coupons. I bought 8 taco bell things, 1 bag of lettuce, and 7 tomatoes. I was ready....

Mine, too. I picked up a couple of those yesterday and it's a really good deal just based on the fact that inside the box is a full-size bag of Nestle morsels, a bag of marshmallows, a bag of sugar and a can of evaporated milk. The chocolate chips alone normally go for $3.99 here. The other stuff makes it a bonus. Whee

Wow! I didn't know it had a full bag of chips. (But that makes sense if it is going to make 1 1/2 pounds of fudge).
There were 50 cents off coupons in some insert - but I don't know which one.

FedEx brought me a skillet today!
I'm so glad others posted about this recently, otherwise I would have been very confused since they don't say anything about where it came from. I actually opened the box without cutting the label b/c I couldn't figure out what it was and I didn't think I had ordered anything heavy lately. Smilie

Yes..but at your base that will just be step 1.
Step 1 - put the coupons out.
Step 2 - let the patrons use the coupons.

Step 2 will be the hard one. They probably know that -- If we put the coupons out then people will start trying to USE them....
Yes, indeed. I went to Pearl on New Year's Eve. Only one booklet on the top of the coupon counter so I opened the doors to see if there were any others inside. Yes, just call me Gladys Kravitz. I am nosy. Stick Out Tongue

Going to upload the photos I took of what I found inside.....

Is it just me, or is there something wrong with Commissaries.com? I have not been able to access the page in ages. I have tried Firefox and Explorer.

eta: nevermind- for some reason when I'd click through history or type commissaries.com, the page would time out. Tonight I did a search and clicked through a totally different page on the site and it worked, and let me get to the main page.

Not sure is this is at all comissaries but at my comissary they have the large bags of beggin strips dog treats ( I think 25oz.) for $4. I have seen them at other stores for about $10. I also had a coupon for $3 of 2. We have only had a puppy for a short period of time so I am not sure this is a great price but it seemed good to me and our puppy enjoys them.

Unlike other stores, the commissaries don't allow stacking of coupons. Frown (We tried to convince DeCA, but Head Bang) That is not to say that an individual cashier won't let you stack coupons, but they aren't supposed to - and they could get in trouble for doing that.

Oops my mistake, I don't have the $3/2 so I'm only using the b1g1. Thank you for the clarification though, wouldn't want to get anyone in trouble over a coupon
