I've used "Noise Machine" for quite some time as well. It is *not* fancy, though it is a true white noise generator (no rainfall or fireplace sounds). It requires no permissions and is free without ads too. I've always found true white noise to work better than the sounds of rain or the beach that many apps play.

Except A) Youtube doesn't work with the screen off, B) wouldn't work well if you don't have good reception, and C) the youtube app kills your batter if you're not plugged in.

Here is how I would do it if you have a laptop/desktop. Go to youtube and look up for an example the sounds of rain perhaps without thunder. Download. Find the download and send it to your phone. You can use a USB cord for the transfer. Play the file and put the file in repeat on your media player. No money needed.

That being said its cheap enough being free on Amazon. I use the rain video to help me sleep. The one I have is 8 hours long and 1gig.

The free app was a life saver on a flight from Europe with a crying baby. Put it on crickets and didn't hear a thing. I'm curious, what does the paid version offer that the free version doesn't have? Is it just to support the developer?

I simply recorded the sound from this website: https://simplynoise.com/
Then, just loop the sound. It's free...
You can also find brown noise, which I prefer for sleep aid. It uses lower frequency and feels like I'm on the airplane. There are some youtube videos, which you can just download and strip the sound to make it into your free noise machine Smilie

From the Free version's description:
Download the full version of White Noise to get background audio, additional alarms, and no ads. Just tap the Upgrade button in settings.

I've used tmsoft white noise for years. It's called white noise and can produce white noise but does much more. I typically use an ocean waves sound set to shut off after two hours. There are lots of other good sounds available should I grow tired of the ocean waves. I think it's worth a buck.

There were other apps like Noisli that came with this and a whole list of nature sounds you can mix and use. This is overkill for just $1. And yes - white noise is free on the internet.
