One of my regrets. Don't get it lol. in the age of HD smartphones, just take pictures of the docs/pictures you want. I have the 3rd version and it's a little finicky and you have to have a fairly even and smooth scan for it to look decent.

Humbly disagree with this. As an "academic," this thing is incredibly useful for scanning documents and books and such. The benefits over taking a picture is that you don't have to worry whether the picture is in focus and you don't have to worry about sizing it just right or editing it afterwards. I like to scan and print off what I need so I can mark it up at my leisure, and for that purpose, this tool is indispensable.

My wife has a magic wand but I don't think she uses it for scanning.

Waiting for deal for this kind of portable scanner deal from long time, need to scan so many old images, don't know how much useful, but can give a try, i feel scanner is better than taking from phone.

The Microsoft Lens app does a great job. Free app great for snapping shots of documents, receipts, photos, and such.
