In for the USB burner. Thanks for posting. I've watched it come and go at this price. It's an older model, but latest reviews still look good, and there aren't any new 3.0 models close to it in price.

I think I miss a whole generation technology! I never have a blue ray writer so far, and no blue ray disk! I jump from DVD to flash driver!

40 bucks seems to be a common price for these internal drives these days. Not such a slick deal.

What is a good deal for external bluray writers? I'm semi looking for one for occasional use. Haven't been paying close attention to the price of these when they're FP.

Years ago, very many of us SDers got in on the $20 Rosewill external BD writer deal so that is always the lowest price point I base it on. With holiday shopping season coming up, I would wait and look for the $30 price point. I think it will happen this year.

Newegg rebates are ridiculously tricky to get. I've seen the most miniscule and obtuse reasons for denial, if they acknowledge it at all. Otherwise, they just ignore- I'm running less than 50% on the rebates. NO MAS!

Never had a problem with their rebates. Just follow the instructions on the rebate site and send all required materials.

Yeah, but that $30 AR price is for an Asus Portable Slim-line USB 2.0 Blu-ray Burner. Those drives are only 6x capable. This model is a 12x capable Desktop Size USB 3.0 Blu-ray Burner. It has never been cheaper than $45.99 AR with student discount: HERE

The Asus 12x Internal Desktop Blu-ray Burner usually goes on sale for $29.99 AR during the holidays.. and it is probably the same drive inside that... but you would be hard pressed to find a USB 3.0 external enclosure for $16 to $18 for a 5.25" drive. Those require an external power brick also.

If you want a 16X Capable Blu-ray Burner, you will likely not see cheaper. The LG model usually sells for $50 on sale, and the Asus model is usually $39.99 AR on sale. It has only been $1 cheaper one time in the last several years: HERE

If you are okay with 12x or 14x, then yes, you may see those internal drives cheaper, but usually only over the holidays.

Well, I was replying to Rcboosted which was looking for an external bluray writer. True, it's only 6x for external bluray but for occasional burn like what he stated I think it should be ok.

Not that it matters since optical drives can't take advantage of USB 3.0 yet other than power, the Rosewill was 6x and USB3.0. It was an awesome deal you posted too for $20 after rebate that happened 3 years ago and prices never ever got that low again. Not even $30 or $40. And the limit was TWO!

Hmm I just bought the 14x LG from newegg yesterday for $39.99...this is probably a better drive I am guessing but at least I do not have to wait for the rebate, so I guess I am ok with the LG... Just bought it to watch blurays... Who the hell burns discs anymore anyways...no one I know.

Agreed. I bought a bluray drive a couple years back and maybe used it 10x times. The only other bluray drive i have is my xbox one, which i dont really watch movies on. All my xbox games were purches digitially. And all my movie / tv consumption is digitially consumed as well.
