Thread Details

Went in to verizon to see about any deals they had and walked out with a droid turbo 2 for right around $160 after all was said and done. I had an old LG G3 with a cracked screen that still turned on that they were able to get the IMEI off of and they gave me $200 immediate credit. Everyone can get that. Here's where the YMMV comes in. Of the 10 lines on my account 9 of them had a $200 bonus credit if purchasing a droid turbo 2. I checked with my brother who has 9 lines on his account and only 3 of his had the $200 bonus credit. Who knows why, all of our devices are paid off, maybe, IDK. I checked my account online and saw nothing about it, only in store were they able to tell me which lines had the extra $200 credit. Anyway, $528 (Retail price of phone) - 400 + taxes and the stupid $20 activation rip-off fee came out to be $160 out of pocket. I had to do device payment plan but the verizon rep just left 24 cents on there which I will pay a penny of for 2 years. I'll now sell my old S5 on craigslist for 125 or so bucks and get a nice little upgrade for right around 30 bucks all total.

Verizon rep said deal is only good through August so if you wanna check it out, it'll have to be Wednesday and then it's gone.....supposedly.
Hopefully this helps somebody who hasn't upgraded in a while!

I would just pay that off with a credit card online as soon as the DPP shows up online.

Instead of selling S5 on craigslist u can upgrade another line under same deal giving it to verizon. u will end up with two brand new phones ! or sell one and profit about $350-$400.

why do that when I got a bunch of old phones worth nothing that I could trade in and still get a least over a hundred for my s5?

this is a pretty good deal. did they hint if they were regional promos? online there's no trace of either promo...in what city are you OP?
THE droid turbo 2 is a more thab capable device. may not be top of the line anymore, but still a pretty good phone

edit:
oh wait, today is the last day of august...damn it

I'm in Washington state, and yeah today is the last day. If you're close by a corporate store maybe worth it to drop by, if not, no harm done.

So that the line is eligible for an upgrade when the next deal surfaces.

lol guesss not, but there's always new opportunities. I feel they are getting desperate about losing subscribers. The only reason they didnt' at the end of last year is because we were duped into opening thousands of lines for the 300 trade in. It was all artificial...so they couldn't sustain it Evillaugh

Yeah, I am going to save my line churn for the fall/holidays when the really good deals happen.

Turbo 2 is basically the Turbo 1 with a crummier battery and no possibility of unlocked bootloader and they don't even have root. The only advantages of the Turbo 2 are the SD card slot and the slightly bigger screen (some would not consider the form factor change an advantage, but some like it).

Oh, and the Turbo 2 has a processor that is insignificantly faster than the Turbo 1, but the Turbo 2 processor has a tendency to overheat. Bonus!

Better to get yourself an as-new Turbo 1...
