These are super fast headphones but they arent really inspiring for their performance backet BeyerDynamic should just leave Dynamic drivers behind and go planar or electrostatic(both of these inherently have great bass as well which is the T90s weakness which are supposed to have more clarity(comparison reviews) aka the next gen of the DT880s no 600ohm tho only come in 250); they are obviously superior. These are probably as far as Dynamics go, precisioin(speed) wise, problem is bass suffers even tho these are super accurate so fast they even make mp3s sound horrible flac played through them sounds much better...... thats how all BeyerDynamics are brutal with the speed. DT1350s may still be near the top definitlely the bang for buck on ear portable god but if you dont eq those highs they can punch so fast it makes listening to them like being punched in the ear drum not with just volume but shear speed that the sound comes off the driver......

Its hard to explain these headphones you should read the other thread about them....http://slickdeals.net/f/9092735-beyerdynamic-t90-limited-edition-250ohm-open-headphones-chrome-294-f...

These headphones are so good they should be left in case for god session when your source material and every component in your system is god level flac or above or dsd. They will expose flaws in everything especially low bitrate or internet stuff like youtube. They dont have a ton of bass most people are bassheads these days these are made for chamber music(not necessarily classical, most rock and jazz etc etc is recorded in small studios and technically its chamber music(small room instrumental)) but they are detail natural sounding god on really high quality recordings(I dont know compared to stax and the best electrostats in the world cause I havent heard them), this forum is generally allot of younger people especially ones interested in headphones so I try to remember my audience and tailor my responses here for them. This is not an audiophile forum. So most of them will not like the sound signature(the sound signature will determine what genres of music a headphone is best at you should always buy headphones for the genres of music you like not try to find the best headphone and hope when you get it it plays what you like well because the chances of that are very low and you will be disappointed) of these headphones or have the gear to run them, and the result will be unsatisfactory like it was for me the first time I tried these. You have to upgrade your gear and learn where these fit in and then they will shine but it takes allot of work and research and when you get these and they arent plug and play it will burn you how much you paid for these and your expectations. These headphones are like razors that have to be perfectly tuned or you wont like the sound they produce. I would also only listen to these from Bughead Emperor(7.27 if non avx2 coprocessr intel generation aka pre broadlake skylake)> foobar2000> JRiver Media Center+ JPlay.

I find the best reviews are the harshest reviews that point out all the flaws in a product(cause someone out of all the people buying these will find them). But if you look closely and think I'm comparing a dynamic to an an electrostatic or planar. Electrostat and planar are faster lighter diaphram, faster response, higher precision technology so if I'm comparing a dynamic(cone with wire or magnet) to Electrostat/Planar then they must be on the god end of dynamic(highest level of quality and precision). So it sounds like I'm crapping on these, but they are number 12 on the Head-Fi ranking and they are one of the top headphone in the world. I wouldnt be posting in the thread and definitely not this much if they werent. Some people prefer Hifiman He5LE and He-500s to these but those are both discontinued now.... better bass same price bracket and near same levels of precision in the 400$+ price bracket.
