No, it's said "Our branded phones are not carrier unlocked. It will not work when inserted with a different SIM card from another company" on the Customer Q&A.

Sometime in the near future, I see a class action lawsuit with the term "no contract phone" that is "carrier locked" which makes you get into a plan thus locking you into a "contract".

IIRC, TW will unlock after 12 months of paid service.

I don't. There is no contract. The phone is carrier locked. If you want an unlocked phone, you should buy one.

These locked phones are sold at a discount for a reason - they are subsidized.

Yes but in essence, having no contract means not being forced or locked into a carrier.
However, these are "locked". Thus, forcing you to get into a contract-less contract for 1-yr.

No contract only means that you dont need to sign up a contract when you buy a phone it has nothing to do with unlock.

Even all phones sold by T-Mobile is locked but all their plans HAVE no contract. You need to activate the phone for 30 days in order to unlock them.

There are always option to unlock phone via third party or you use it as an ipod, the company clearly stated that the phone is LOCKED.

It is just some people's wishful interpretation that no contract == unlocked

You aren't forced into any contract. You can walk out of the store with the iPhone after paying $149+tax and do as you please with it. Smilie

Total Wireless is owned by TracFone. Just like Straight Talk iPhones , these are locked for a year. You can use it on TracFone branded service, but I have yet to see a company unlock these.

No, it means not having a contract. You are trying to make up law that doesn't exist. The phones are locked, you know that when you buy them. There's no case here despite that you want there to be one.

Couldn't I just spend like $3 on ebay on an unlock code for this? Or is that not how it works?

You can't do anything with it since it's locked.
