Hey guys,

I didn't see this posted, so I thought I'd share.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

This modem is capable of higher speeds (according to the description) than the one offered on woot. Here is a comparison of features according to Arris: http://surfboard.com/products/arr...omparison/.

Link to the woot deal [woot.com] for those interested.
You never want to purchase a modem and router combination...it's always better to have two separate devices since the integrated WiFi inside of combo units tend to be not so good, even for name brand products like Netgear and ASUS. You also have the benefit of being able to upgrade your router and WiFi speeds later on in the future without having to go through funky configurations and setting up your combo modem as a bridged device and just turning it into a modem like the one mentioned in this listing.

The link in the details doesn't work for me (mobile app), but clicking the name below the picture takes me to the modem.

No intention to hijack the thread just putting out reference information

separate modem and router allows one to upgrade independently or if one part breaks then you dont need a whole new modem/router.

Almost went to buy this each time it went on sale - but the reviews always said that it heats up a lot. Someone tried replacing the heatsink inside and had good results. But of course, all the refurbs that come for sale have had the issue of heating up probably. The 6121 and 6141 have been deemed as End of Life with Comcast, although my 6121 is still going good.

People complain that this unit heats up but it doesn't hurt performance. Who cares about heating if you are not going to hold it like a phone or put it in your pocket. At this price its a steal. Mine gives me about 20% more speed than what I pay for. So no regrets.

Yes it runs pretty hot. The speed is amazing though. Gave me an additional 30mbps from my old modem. I have Comcast 100 Mbps but only got 90 from my old modem. Now I'm getting 120mbps

That old piece of garbage only supports 8 channel bonding.

The newer SB6183 supports 16 channel bonding for 2x the speeds.

Duh.
