I bought a similar signature version of this laptop (last year model). The build quality is sub-par at its best. Already the base plastic edges are broken (Never dropped it). Only signature I see in this series are bad quality. Guess I need to buy a new one pretty soon. Very disappointed. May be not Dell Inspiron Signature.

I have the same issue about the broken hinge/plastic edge. It is one of the recurring problems since the 4th Intel generations.

You can easily get one from Dell Outlet with those 30-35% coupon off.
I bought mine Inspiron 7000 series i5-6200 13.3 inch, touch screen, $430 included tax.

Signature Edition just means it comes without bloatware, just a clean OS install. It has nothing to do with the hardware or build quality.

Wow, surprised to hear those comments. I've had a Signature Edition for about a year and it's been great. No quality issues, runs great. I believe it's a definite step above other Dell laptops I've had. I got it extremely cheap around Black Friday, as well. Nothing too high end, but suits all my needs as a business laptop. It's fairly heavy, battery life is fair. Love the backlit keyboard.

This is an awesome laptop for that price. I have the 12 gb version with realsense. The screen on this is gorgeous. Fast and good battery life. I bought it refurb from Dell awhile back for $380. This is brand new! It is not heavy either. Has a quick charge as well. A great buy and find!

I bought this laptop with the Intel Core i5-5250U last December and it was terrible. http://slickdeals.net/f/8357843-dell-inspiron-15-i5558-5717slv-signature-edition-laptop-intel-core-i5-5250u-15-6-1080p-touchscreen-8gb-1tb-backlit-keyboard-win-10-449-free-shipping-microsoft-store?src=#comments

The screen had black border surrounded by the actual bezel, probably because the bezel was smaller than it should have been. Also the screen had these diamond effect when you look at the screen off using bright light shiny of the screen you can make out individual pattern of diamonds under the glass screen. Even when it was on, I can see individual dots that I think were touch sensor. Can any confirm that this one won't have it?

Battery life is 5+ hours depending on what you do. I replaced the main hard drive with ssd and the sleep and wake times are much faster. Then I got thehaed drive caddy that goes in the optical drive slot, and out the 1tb drive in there. This laptop is pretty heavy compared to my old Lenovo t440 and the build quality is pretty bad. Tons of keyboard and screen flex. Eventually, the keys will imprint and permanently make onto the screen, so I try to keep a thin micro fiber cloth in between the screen and keyboard when I transport it.

Does anyone know if Dell would PM their touchscreen 5559 (currently $549) to this?

I just don't understand why laptops are still selling without SSD.
