Home Theater Help. Projector Receiver Directv

iSlickdealz 3 10 September 1, 2016 at 10:51 AM
I am running a hdmi cable from my Directv box into 1 of the 4 hdmi in of my receiver. And from the hdmi out I run a 25ft hdmi cable to my projector. Here is where the problem is, when I turn on all 3, there is no picture. The Directv box works, the sound works through the receiver, but there is no picture. BUT as soon as I turn off only the receiver, the picture shows, but since the receiver is off, there is no sound through my bookshelf speakers =(.
It cannot be a problem with my hdmi cable because when I run the hdmi cable from projector to Directv box it works. Is there a problem with my receiver? Am I missing something? EVERYTHING WORKED FOR ONE MOVIE VIEWING. After powering it off and powering it back on, this happened. Please help....

Projector- Epson PowerLite 2045
Receiver- Spny STR-DH550
Directv Box
Speakers- Pioneer SP-BS22

How can you turn off your AVR and get a picture on your TV\Projector if you are going through the AVR for your video signal? Makes no sense.

If set up properly, you would need to power on AVR, TV and DTV box in order to get a picture. Sound you would need DTV receiver and your AVR assuming your speakers are connected to the AVR.

Doesn't make sense but I do get a picture. When all 3 are on, I get no picture but I get sound through the speakers that are plugged in the receiver. But when I power off the receiver of the 3 devices, the picture pops up and I get sound through the projector only...

Try this:
Power everything off.
Then power on the projector. Wait about 30 seconds, until it's fully started up.
Then, power on the Sony AVR. Wait until it's fully started up.
Then, power on the DirecTV box

If that doesn't work, check the settings of your Sony AVR. It may be configured to scale video to a very high resolution. Disable any video processing or scaling features inside the Sony AVR.

It makes sense when off it acts as a passive pass thru on the HDMI as off and unplugged are two different things, it does sound like a resolution issue, also try a different HDMI port or different HDMI device like a pc monitor for testing.
