So anything non anker is guaranteed to blow up in my face?
It's also cheaply made and unsafe.

Thanks for the post, but sorry OP this isn't slick.

It is easy to find power banks under $1 / 1000 mAh. This is a little over. Slick power banks are under that threshold and have perks like flashlights, quick-change ports, etc. Also a 5v/1a charge input is oppressively slow.

For anyone in the market for a good deal on power banks I recommend keeping an eye on amazon lightning deals.

Well priced alternative to the more expensive Anker battery packs. Does 2amp output and costs a little more than the lipstick style battery packs which in my experience don't even get me a full charge.

Anything that does not explicitly name the brand/grade of the battery it uses (Samsung, Sanyo, etc.), or is not made by an OEM (Motorola, Samsung, etc.) or a reputable name brand (Anker, RavPower, etc.) is in all likelihood a low quality knockoff. It's not worth risking your $500 phone - or a fire - to save a few bucks.

Completely agree. I had a generic that literally caught fire. Boom, the smell of burning plastic, and leakage onto the counter that was eating through wood.

A 10,000mah from a reputable company will sometimes be on Slickdeals for under $15 (with QC 2.0).
