Amazon offers Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition (Model: VN7-592G-71ZL) Gaming Laptop with 15.6" 1080P IPS Display, Skylake Core i7-6700HQ 2.6GHz Quad Core CPU, 8GB DDR4 Ram, GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5 Graphics, 1TB HDD, WiFi AC, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.1 Type-C Thunderbolt 3, Win10 Home 64 Bit @ $734 with free shipping. Tax in most states.

This is a great bang for buck laptop and better than the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series, normally available at this price. Better Display and build quality and most importantly Thunderbolt 3 Port, which enables external GPU docks to be connected without paying for almost twice pricer options with GTX 10XX series cards.

I would only recommend if you are fan of big screen Laptop. Because $134 more price is not much attractive for a 960M Laptop. You will get plenty of GTX 965M Laptops on that price.

1060 laptops cost at least 1300 usd, normally 1400 - 1500.

I agree about the 1060 kind of makes these obsolete. The comparison of price to performance actually justifies a $1300 price tag:http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Comp...7319vs3639

This is usually where I recommend for mobile graphics comparisons, but they don't have clear data on the 10-series yet: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobi...844.0.html

As far as the SSD. I've got a 1TB one I'd move from my current laptop. I assume a lot of people are in that boat.

960M laptops are about to go on fire sale. They start at $750 new from Lenovo with quad-core CPUs. I'd wait for a 970m at this price point.

Seems like upgrading ram/ssd is a real pain in the ass (have to remove the keyboard) ... non replaceable battery as well ... this really kills the deal for me.

A laptop that you're not meant to change RAM or HDD? That's a no-go for me unless it's $200 cheaper than this.

I still feel like a GTX 1060 starting as low as $1144 is a better buy: http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np81...mization=1

I have this same model I think. you do have to remove the keyboard but it wasn't that difficult in the end

how long before 10xx cards are in this price range, a few years?

IF it was a SSD at this price I'd pull the trigger. I'm not a gamer for the 10xx series GPUs. I just cant pull the trigger with 2 pieces of obsolete tech. Patience!

It is not that bad, I did it on my 17 inch, the only challenge really was the short ribbon cables. Once I had those out and the screws to the board I didn't have to disconnect the video cable, I was gentle and tilted vertical, and then swapped the ram modules out.

For comparison sake my G752 has longer ribbon cables and a quicker process to get to the slots under the keyboard. That model has four slots though.
