Need to ship a car from Florida to Nevada... Can anyone help or advise?

Like the title says. I need to ship an older Honda CRV, to Nevada, from Florida. The car is fine and runs perfectly.

Anyone have personal experience doing this? What company and do you recommend them?

Seems like all the websites I find are just brokers for trucking companies, that happen to move cars. All the prices seem the same... $1150-$1175!! EEK!EEK!

I sure could use some help!

Here are some ideas for you to consider.

If you'd like to get competing quotes from up to 12 transport companies, try using the quote request tool on ShippingSidekick. After you get your quotes, check out the best ones on sites like and the Better Business Bureau.

Shipping Sidekick also has a number of tips to consider when shipping a car, such as the tradeoff between open and enclosed shipping, how to prepare a car to be shipped, the importance of insurance, etc.

Another option: uShip is kind of like the eBay of shipping. Basically, you post what you want shipped and then shipping providers who have extra space in their loads make bids on how cheaply they can ship your items for you. Their directory includes over 216,000 shipping providers, and it gives those shippers an opportunity to sell space that would otherwise go wasted, so you're likely to get a very competitive rate on your shipment.

They even offer a Bid Price Evaluator that compares the bids you've received with ones that others have received on similar shipments, and lets you know if you can expect an even lower one to come in. To get an estimate of how much you would pay with uShip just use the free no-obligation Evaluator tool:

Here is another useful alternative for you: consider using a drive-away service.

The one I'm most familiar with (but have not personally used) is They've been relocating vehicles throughout the U.S. since 1952 and have 40 offices throughout the country. Read the FAQs on their site for more details, or you can call them. They also offer a Request-a-Quote tool on their home page.

Hope one of these helps you out! Take care.
