For goodness sakes change the title because edu coupon isn't available for everyone

Edit: it's been $700 before after coupon and btw new ones are releasing in couple weeks so this isn't a good deal

Yes, it is. Best Buy will still send you the coupon, even to a non .edu email address.

Edit: While new ones are coming out, new MacBook Airs probably are not.

Most people are saying there will be no announcement on a refresh for the MacBook Pro/Air this month. I've gotten tired of waiting for the "refresh" that's supposed to come with every event that Apple has. You're looking at a couple of MONTHS not weeks before it's out and by that time it'll probably be behind when the new processors and new graphic cards are in every other brands laptop. Apple may just as well be waiting for the new intel processors and the radeon graphics to be ready to put in their update and that would push the release back even further.

Plus it won't be any where near this price, if you're buying a MacBook Air it's to do browsing and light computer activities which this will do fine and you won't really need the "update".

Grab a returned certified or excellent laptop, it's ~$20 more then when this was on sale a month or two back. Don't forget Amex offer of $25 off $250, plus the usual 1% cash back on the amex card. Cash back sites I've had trouble getting it to go through. 50/50 currently with a Ipad Pro and Macbook Air purchase.

You make very good points and I agree.

My point is that a true comparison would be for the price of this laptop ($750) versus the price of a new Macbook Air. If any potential new Macbook Air is priced at $999 and not discounted, then this $750 deal is great.

Two things to be aware of
  • Screen is very good but not great
  • No USB-C
A good price nonetheless for the best computer ever from two years ago. I still happily use and like mine, although my aging eyes prefer the HD screen on my 2016 Dell Chromebook.

Just sold my late 2012 model of exact this spec. 8GB ram 128GB SSD i5 on ebay for $600. Unbelievable the demand of this laptop after years of use, it's valued almost as good as gold.

Not that great. Last time (July 16) they had a deal, I paid $736.54 (Los Angeles, CA tax included) with a -$100 off student discount. Ps- it was an open-box as well.

I wonder why screen solution seems to be always missing in the title when it comes to Macbook Air. OP should specify that this is not full HD but 1440 x 900 in case if that is a huge deal breaker to anyone.

Deal breaker? You must be kidding. No one buys this for the specs.
