Btw I have these. I feel that 3mg is excessive. I usually break them into 4 pieces (or approx 0.75mg each dose) which is enough to help me fall asleep. And taking less helps beacause I wake up feeling less groggy.

Probably easier to buy pills that are lower dose to begin with, instead of breaking these 3mg pills.

Good tip! I will try the 0.75mg route.

Gummies are better. I wouldn't waste money on tablets.

The usual recommended dose range for melatonin is 0.1-0.5mg, so you probably should take even less than a quarter of a fab.

High doses of melatonin taken regularly can stop working: study. And can be dangerous. The 3 or (yikes!) 10 mg tablets are overkill. Unfortunately, there are no regulations on dietary supplement dosages. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ent...40567a1e1e "Any person in the sleep world will tell you the same thing: Melatonin is not harmless, is vastly overused and should not be used as a sleep aid to treat insomnia. - Michael Grandner, University of Arizona." Consumer Reports says that even a proper dosage will bring on sleep, on average, only 7 minutes sooner.

750 mcg (micrograms) :-).3mg to 5 mg is normal dose with the latter being sold more of a time controlled release formulation. But I agree 100%, start off with low increments and if it isn't effective, then take the full regular dose, when it comes to over the counter sleep-meds.

Melatonin gave me crazy vivid dreams. Never really did the trick. Environmental changes helped better. No screen time before bed, no blue light in the room, turning off WiFi and cell phones at night, etc.

Took 5mg the other night for the first time. Knocked me out in 15 minutes. Then I woke up every hour, groggy. The next day, I felt worse than if I never got any sleep to begin with. I read 5mg can be way too much for some people. Apparently I'm one of those people. laugh out loud

I take these regularly. I fall asleep within an hour and wake up feeling great. One bottle lasts me about a year, as I only need them on work nights.
