The AMD processor may scare some people away, but according to my research this is better than the i5-6200u and on par with an i7-6500u.

This laptop ticks most of the boxes off my wish list with the exception of an SSD, which could be replaceable. One unfortunate thing I found while doing research is that it only has single channel memory, so only one slot for RAM. You would get better performance running two separate chips.

Single channel ram kills the deal. Why does HP have to gimp a nearly perfect laptop :c

i was gonna ask about this. looking for a low-budget low res gamer, single channel means this ain't it.

seems a pretty good system for non-gamer, is FX-9800p the latest AMD processor? what's the battery life like?

The processor just came out this summer. This HP is the first to get it. It actually can be a budget gamer. There's a YouTube video showing it out-perform an i7-6500u. Battery should be comparable as well since it runs at 15w.

Any idea how this would compare with

http://slickdeals.net/f/9071979-asus-q304ua-13-3-2-in-1-touch-laptop-i5-6200u-6gb-ram-1tb-hdd-1080p-win-10-iopen-box-excellent-371-99-after-edu-coupon-bestbuy?src=catpagev2

Similar priced and performance. Does anyone have suggestion on build quality?

Also, the 15" Yoga is only $100 more.

I've looked at both of those. I was seriously considering the Lenovo. It is very nice and thin with very thin bezels, and has a 256gb SSD. However, the keyboard layout really turned me off. I really want a full keyboard with dedicated home/end/PgUp/PgDown buttons and a number pad. The Lenovo also has a weird right shift key. In addition, I believe the Lenovo also has single channel memory.

The Asus is nice too, but you just have to decide if you want a smaller more portable laptop, or a larger screen. I'm going to mostly be using mine as a desktop.

As for the processor and graphics, the AMD outperforms the i5-6200u on both of those by a good margin.

The AMD processor might be fine performance wise, but how is it in power usage (battery life) and temperature? AMD's FX line has never been particularly cool or power efficient.

I just returned this laptop the other day.

The single channel ram really gimps this system.

My original unit and exchanged unit both had terrible back light bleeds. I wasn't too impressed with the screens colors. It seemed a bit dull.

The laptop does get quite hot. Obviously, you have to stress it but downloading updates and a YouTube video got the unit hot.

Obviously, I'm sure not everyone will have issues like I did but I thought I would throw out my review.

I was playing with this one vs the more expensive silver version in store a couple of days ago. It was WAY hotter than the Intel (more expensive) version. I was interested in it until I realized that I'd burn my lap in no time.

if the apu is 35w it would probably melt the chassis or set your bed on fire.

My 5 year old Lenovo B570 (pre i3) is acting up power wise so I'm in the market
I just use it for college, bills and kodi
