compare to the previous Lenovo deal, which is better? I like the Lenovo build but feel the processor is lagging even with simple daily use. Any comments.

This isn't a bad setup and you get the i3 over the junk of that Celeron. Or you can wait for a better Lenovo. I believe these have the LED port on the MB so you can replace the keyboard with a LED backlit one off of Ebay for $20-30. I did this on my Inspiron 3542 from a few years ago.

Just download the manual from Dell. It will show you how to remove the keyboard. If the laptop has the port on the MB you can order an LED backlit one off of Ebay.

Just contributing my 2 cents.

I got this laptop from bestbuy on 8/19 when it was on sale for 249.
Overall the laptop is average.

Pros -
Cheapest i3.
Compatible with uefi install of xubuntu
4+ hours on the cheap battery after swapping out the hard drive for a ssd.

Cons -
Glossy screen - i can see my own reflection in the screen in a moderately lighted room.
Ram/Storage upgrade is PIA - You remove 16 screws, remove the keyboard and split the machines just to get access to the hard drive cage and memory. If you are not experienced you will definitely break the plastic shell.

It has been this price for a while. Would pull the trigger if this gets down to $200
