Found a pretty slick deal on the daily flight deals site GTFOflights.com [gtfoflights.com]. There's only a few dates available, but Norwegian Airlines is offering roundtrip flights between Oakland and London for $392--and they're nonstop in both directions.

To save you a few bucks, they offer you the helpful hint of purchasing tickets from the Norway version of the airline's site. By purchasing in Norwegian currency (the "NOK"), rather than USD, you'll save $100 compared to if you bought from the U.S. version of the site.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Oakland in general has gone through a metamorphosis over the years driven by renters, home-buyers and tech companies (Uber is moving 3k workers there) flocking to the East Bay due to cheaper prices--which now are ascending due to the demand surge. Sure, there are rough parts, but those are to a large degree isolated.

Less than 5 years ago Oakland, East Palo Alto, and Richmond were hotspots for crime, now the crime has dispersed as people have been forced out of their homes for tech workers and the cost of living has sky rocketed. The resurgence of silicon valley and it's spread to SF, Oakland, Redwood City, San Mateo and so on have really caused havoc on not only the communities, but the traffic as well. With so many people moving in, most 10 minute drives take 20-40 minutes on both the streets and highways depending on the time of day. Living here my whole life, it sucks to see things change so quickly. Some of its good, but most of it's bad.

just adding to what you said...

Does this pricing include the checked baggage? Because it seems to jump up to a higher price for me if I want to have the option of a checked bag, "Lowfare+"

Right at this moment I am in Europe traveling and taking Norwegian from city to city. If you know what to expect then Norwegian isn't bad at all. It's a no frills flight so no food, beverage or any kind of service. Just expect to go from Point A to Point B. My fianc? had to fly from JFk to Sweden to meet me in Europe and her experience with Norwegian was the same, no frills. No check bag either, so be prepared to pay for everything besides just to sit down on the plane and use the restroom

And It's going to get worse. Currently work in real estate in the Bay Area and some of the preliminary development plans that I have seen are to keep redeveloping any areas that they can.

I've been playing with the dates. I dont quite get it down to the deal shown, but still it's about $1,500 total for a family of 3 during thanksgiving. I think it's good deal.
What did you find shady? I'm curious.

This is a FANTASTIC price for non-stop, even when you factor in luggage and other costs. Will be sold out very quickly.

I've flown Norwegian before. They're legit (most flights are on the 787 Dreamliner) and much more reliable than other budget carriers like WOW Airlines.

I'm on the Norwegian version of the Norwegian Airlines site right now and verified availability of the dates quoted on the gtfoflights site (plus several more...). Here are some dates that come up to the 3263 NOK total, which equals $393 USD... (I think the key is that you have to transact on the Norwegian version of their site to get this rate/availability--and of course, use a cc that doesn't charge foreign transaction fees)
