Zwaveproducts.com has the Aeon Labs energy reader for $9.99 plus shipping. I am not sure if this is version 1 or 2 but seems like a good deal.

This Energy Monitor's current transformer clamps fasten around the AC mains in your circuit box for installation. The monitor will immediately begin reporting energy usage information in either wattage or kilowatt hours to your Z-Wave gateway so you can view the data on your computer. All communications are done wirelessly over radio frequency (RF).

Have this, and hoped that it would be wink compatible, but have not yet had any success (though admittedly I'm not the most sophisticated)

Looks like a nice price even after $9 shipping. I'm so close to pulling the trigger on this on. Does it really take an electrician just to put two clamps around wires?

I am no means an electrician and have one of these on my house. I just turned off the main breaker and installed it inside the panel and ran the wires very carefully through the box.

I did mine myself. Don't stand in water while doing it! Ha

Battery powered, and model number from the docs they have linked is DSB9104-ZWUS, so it's 1st gen.

Is there a 2nd gen and is it much better?

Edit: scratch that, looks like they are up to Gen 5! Wonder how many and what changes they've as to make all along the path to a 5th generation!? No way I'd go with a first gen when there is a fifth out now.

Ordering just one isn't that slick as shipping is $9. But shipping stays at $9 even at 4 units, so the price goes down considerably for each additional.
