For 0W-20, instead of asking "Can I use 0W-30?", do yourself a favor and buy 0W-20 for $1.90 more [walmart.com] !!!

I've used this Mobil One rebate twice, once in the Spring this year and again in early August. While Walmart was not listed, I received two $12 rebates for my spring purchase.
you need to check your owners manual. it will give you a range of viscosity, depending on the temp where you live. also, even tho the oil cap may say 0w-20, your local dealers may be using a different viscosity. for example, our cars have 5w-20 clearly marked on the oil fill cap, but the local dealers use 5w-30. checking our manual, this viscosity range is recommended for our temps. on another note, mobil 0w-30 is the oil used in the bmw million mile experiment. it took mobil 4 years to complete. then the car was driven from new york to las vegas for a show, then driven back. it now lives in a museum in munich. no other oil company has gone the distance with their oil. a lot of "experiments" to "prove" their oil is superior to mobil 1, but no long term experiment to show it.

You "can" do anything you want to. It's your car. Personally, I don't think I know more about the design and requirements of my engine than the very smart engineers who designed it.

Was that the "study" where the car was just run on a dynamometer at high speed until the odometer showed 1 million? If so, it was hardly proof of superior wear protection that could be achieved in actual use.
