We got one of these for my wife's sister after their dog got bit by a scorpion . They were amazed by how many scorpions they had around their house and how easily they were able to find them After Dark

Can also be used to identify counterfeit bills for your local Craigslist flipping transactions. the uv strip on the bill should glow a florescent yellow under a 395nm uv light. Same technique the bank tellers use. The TSA also use it to identify genuine government issued identification such as drivers licences and passports.

I have a (China) CREE UV flashlight and pair of 3M yellow safety glasses I bring with me when I travel and stay in hotels.
It really can make your stay... um... "interesting." EEK!
The key is getting the appropriate UV wavelength. Closer you get to 375mn the better.... this light is 395nm which would likely be the bare minimum to see any bio fluids.
I went with a Li-ON rechargeable flashlight due to longer batt capacity and reliability of Li-ON batteries to stay charged extended lengths of time with non-use.
Mine is similar to this setup and can be had for around $10 w/ battery, charger, and light [ebay.com]or around $5 for just light. [ebay.com]
You still need glasses. I went with decent quality 3M from a big box [homedepot.com] due to the fact the better the filter the better the visual and they're safety glasses so they have a larger use than just a flashlight to gross yourself out. Big Grin I am sure a cheaper HF pair would work as well.
Just my 2 cents... hope it helps (or disgusts) someone.

I especially know what to avoid touching... maybe more so than just the logical avoidance of the comforter or duvet cover.

I don't travel that much but if I did I'm sure you could get a sense of which hotels do a better job of maintaining the rooms.... and then perhaps make decision where to stay if it was that big a deal.

Its mostly for curiosity.

these are from china allot of these cheap generic things on amazon like those wire strippers or many other products are just marked up chinese products with some middle man collecting profit he probably doesnt even stock the item just drop ships them from china

goes like this in terms of price

taobao with taobao agent < ebay hong kong, or china or taiwan or malaysia anywhere in far east other than japan or korea < aliexpress < amazon so for chinese products you want to buy them on taobao with a taobao agent you will have to do some reading to understand these systems also alibaba is business product volumes often they wont even speak to you unless your bulk buying a lot of the same items
