I have the netgear ac1200 wireless adapter. It works pretty well, the range is good considering the built in antenna. I don't like that I have to manually download the drivers on every computer I use it on. I want it to just work, but it's great once the drivers are installed.

I can also attest to the quality of the USB adapter. I have been using it without issues for a few months now...I got mine for FAR though. Also, I would love Newegg to start having networking switch deals with fiber optic ports. I just ran fiber between the buildings of my house and want to put it to use!

That's what I think. What are the performance number for those that have them? Since USB 2.0 is 480mbps max, These wouldn't be able to reach full AC1200 at all isn't it?

The ac1200 thru 2.0 is a gimmick

The Asus router on Amazon is 123$. Further, it had dropped down to the 94$ in the last month or so. CamelCamelCamel [urlhasbeenblocked]

You won't get that theoretical speed in real world anyway so USB 2.0 speed should be enough

You won't get the full theoretical 480 Mbps out of the USB either though. The card is easily faster than the USB if you're in the same room as the router.

How did I miss it for FAR? When was that?

Yup,with those #s, it seems it should just max out the real world throughput of a USB 2.0 connection at best.

With SmallNetBuilder link, best case scenario with AC1200 was 254mbps. USB 2.0 can still handle that....that's about the most it can handle real-world.
