This is def a better deal than the 2-and-1 fire sales from last week but I've got to stay strong.

The display is slightly inferior to the Helix 2 or T300 Chi, but it's definitely good enough for the vast majority of people. Calibrated, it should be very comparable to either of the two mentioned. The build is extremely robust, but also heavy. The power keyboard is supposedly stellar, but very heavy. Together, they're 3.6 lb. Remember that HP did not raise the TDP. Burst CPU performance is good on the 5Y71, but sustained performance seriously suffers and the GPU is comparably worse than other 5Y71 devices. However, I'm sure overall performance is more than sufficient for anything but gaming and serious media work.

But... I'm holding out for a Dell XPS 12 refresh with Kaby Lake. I hope they learned from their mistakes this year and and offer a FHD or QHD version. Nobody wants a 4K display on a 12.5" 2-and-1... I don't know what else Dell did to raise the idle/load power consumption as much as they did. Here's hoping for an XPS with a refreshed CPU, more appropriate display specs, and competitive battery life.

is it true that if you "use" the accessibility features, you can still upgrade to Win 10 for free?

I was really liking this before I realized that there are no ports on the actual tablet except the keyboard/dock connector... not even a headphone jack...

seems like they rethought this design flaw in HP Elite X2-1012 but made the later model's tablet thicker, heavier, and near impossible to sit up on your lap (Surface Pro design)

This is actually common for most Business Tablets. For example Dell Latitude 7350 also does not have port in the tablet.

Microsoft Surface Pros do and so does the next version of this tablet. Not having ports on the tablet is a serious design flaw. If I had to listen in on a Skype meeting or take a quick CBT on the go, I wouldn't want to lug the keyboard/dock around

Surface Pro is not really a Business oriented Tablet.

For all you win10 people

As if now, if you download the anniversary version of win10 pro, install fresh from a usb stick, and use a win7 pro key, it still activates. win7 pro keys can be had for $10-20, and it can be any version, ive used win7 pro (non sp1) 32bit to activate just this month.

As an owner of this, no ports on the tablet's half is just fine ... the keyboard is a solid piece of engineering, and use of a tablet by itself (with only its 1 internal battery) is severely limiting your productivity. I actually like the "heft" of the keyboard, because 1) it balances the tablet from toppling over (something the Surface 4 suffers from), 2) it has a nice rubberized bottom that keeps it in place (not sliding on a table like a S4), and 3) if you drop it, the keyboard takes the brunt of the fall.

Yes, the 1011 has a pen ... look to the base of the tablet's half in the 3rd picture. I've never used the pen, since the screen's input-refresh-rate & sensitivity to the pen's tip make it too spastic for engaging with the touch screen, but if you need something to hold ... there it is.

I upgraded from win 7 and win 10 crashes on me everyday. I have to save my files every 10minutes bc I don't know when it's gonna shut down. I hate digging through menu in settings because they try to mix mobile menu interface and hide the computer menu.

Stick with WIn7 if you can
