Doesn't seem like that good of a deal to be honest. I'd expect at least 700W for that price on a decent sale, even in a quiet platinum version.

Not just quiet. You pay a premium for fanless.

Ahh, I didn't notice that.

Well, for my $0.02, I appreciate quiet hybrid power supplies (which run fanless at low power), which are cheaper and just as good IMHO.

It's my experience that if you're drawing significant enough power from your system to get the PSU fan spinning on a hybrid unit, you aren't going to be able to hear it over your case, GPU, CPU, radiator, etc., fans anyway. In the low-power range, a hybrid unit can still run fanless up to 30-40% of it's rated range which is good enough for most quiet scenarios.

Yea... I agree with Gidaean. I got my EVGA 650 P2 which has its fan off most of the time for 80 shipped.

So if this is fanless, would you need a well ventilated case?

Yes, but that doesn't have to be loud. A single 120mm fan can do plenty if the case is well designed.
