AT&T’s Cricket Wireless prepaid brand today announced a new $30 per month plan that will allow the carrier to match the entry-level price offered by its closest competitors, T-Mobile’s MetroPCS and Sprint’s Boost Mobile.

Starting tomorrow (Sept 9th), AT&T’s Cricket will offer unlimited talk and texting and 1 GB of high-speed data for $30 per month. That price includes all monthly taxes and fees.

This plan does NOT have auto-pay or group discounts.

Competitor Plans:
Project Fi 1GB $30 + tax
MetroPCS 1GB $30 (tax included)
Boost Mobile 1GB $30 ($25 w/autopay, $20 w/ Boost Dealz)
Total Wireless 5GB $35 (5% discount w/ autopay)

The plan is mostly beneficial to 1 or 2 lines that use very little data and need AT&T coverage. If you join a 5 line group (see /r/cricketgroups on reddit), each line is $20.

Not bad but if this does not receive group discount, you can do autopay so $35 for 2gb vs $30 for 1gb. I guess if you really dont use data, $5 is $5.

Ringplus coverage is the bottom of the barrel. At least with Ultra one gets decent coverage and fast data. Anything to do with Sprint is a big compromise.
