Looking for a $50 t-mobile LTE compatible phone that runs android

Looking for around the $50 mark for a quad core, 8gb memory, 1gb ram, android lollipop or above, t-mobile LTE compatible. My dad needs a new phone and I'm helping him out. Doesn't have to be those exact specs but around there for the price. I don't really know phones, so I came here.

i like to check bestbuy.
if you select the prepaid tmobile catagory and search by price, it seems like every few days a different one is on sale or clearance really cheap

fyi just insert a regular sim into the prepaid version and it works right out of the box as a non-prepaid phone (don't use the included prepaid sim)

i just did a quick search above and nothing really stood out, but they are always changing. its not unusual for something with specs like the zte avid plus, or the samsung galaxy grand prime to be on sale for under $50
also i just noticed the htc 626s, thats not a bad budget phone either. plus all 3 of the phones i mentioned do have band 12 and volte, so are a good choice for tmobile network

not the best choice for tmobile since it doesn't have band 12.
although blu has said they are going to possible add it in a future update

I noticed that they said in the description only partial 4g LTE? What the hell does that actually mean btw? He doesn't need 60 megs a second, but he does need LTE. He's VERY interested in this phone. What DL speeds are we looking at here?

band 12 isn't fast.
it is a low frequency signal which gives it longer range and really good penetration. in other words, there are a lot of places you will get a good LTE signal where someone with a phone that doesn't support band 12 will get no signal at all. (all of this is assuming you live in an area where band 12 has been deployed)

tmobile is still expanding the band 12 coverage, here is an up to date map. if you live somewhere that has no short term plans, then the blu is a great phone for the price. but if you live somewhere band 12 has been rolled out then it really is a "must have" feature (at least for me)

edit: oops forgot the link

2nd edit:
to more specifically answer your question. the speed will depend on where you are. the blu will probably spend most of its time on band 4 (LTE) which is as fast as any LTE band on any carrier. the disadvantage to band 4 (as i mentioned above) it gets very poor penetration, so deep inside a building, or in a basement you might get no signal, and might have to move near a window to make a call

if you feel like upping your budget a little bit, the new moto g play is a really good phone for the price, its also an amazon prime exclusive. its a couple days away from being released. (only $99 right now. for a very short time it had pre-order available for $79. at that price it is by far the best phone in that range, but at $99 its still a great phone. its regular price of $150 about what you would expect for a phone with those specs)

fyi i find the adds are unobtrusive. didn't even hardly notice them on the moto g4 i played with (its the $179 amazon version. also a great phone at that price point)

It's a birthday present for my dad, who has a phone currently that's rocking a .3mega pixel camera, single core processor, 256mb ram, and 1gb of storage. The blu will be PLENTY for him. However, if I COULD have gotten it for pre-order @ 79.99 I would have, that time has past. Thanks though!

I got him the Blu R1 HD for his birthday yesterday and he loves it. We live in Minnesota.............people here are technologically illiterate. He thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. He doesn't need a hex core processor and the latest adreno gpu. He's 60. He loves it! However, oyouno did suggest a better phone, but it was already in transit :-/

Keep in mind his phone before I got him this one had 256mb ram, 1gb storage space, had a single core low clocked processor, 320x240 screen, ran android 3.0. He's amazed at how fast it is compared to the one he's been rocking for the past 3 years.
