At that size a 600-700 projector plus a 200 screen might be a better option better for you. Most new generation projectors are light cannons and can be used in fairly bright rooms. You could buy all that including professional setup and some window treatments and still have close to 1500 left over. And 110" instead of a puny 80" screen.

I have the D 1080p version of this set and its nice. The local dimming can get bloomy on some dark scenes because of the coarse 12 zones local dimming, there is no HDR but the contrast ratio if 5million:1 so it does very well, 120hx real - what you need for good sports and motion. You can get a media sonic box off amazon for around $35 for a tuner. $1100 is a fair price ant i might get better if you get a Discover price match in the next 90 days.

Ugh... Waiting for a deal on an 80.. been waiting for couple years. I'm hoping there is an 80 inch this black Friday in the 2000-2300 price range.. there was a 75 inch vizio 4k for I think 2000.. the price jump in anything over 70-75 inch is crazy.. it doesn't make sense Frown

Are all 70" class TVs actually 69.5"? Or is it just Vizio that does this?
And why 69.5"? What is it about that .5" that makes this size optimal?
Does anyone make a 72" TV? I just want to be able call it 6'. Smilie

It makes plenty of sense, you just don't understand how manufacturing works.

1080p projectors should come in around $400-500ish soon, $40 will get you a 120in matte screen rolled in a tube, 120in screen for under $500 in FHD is a good buy.
