For a limited time, customers can also trade in an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, or iPhone 6S Plus that's in good working condition and they can get an iPhone 7 32 GB free after $650 in monthly bill credits when they buy it on AT&T Next or AT&T Next Every Year with eligible service1. To take advantage of this offer customers just need to own their current iPhone outright, or pay for the remainder of their remaining balance. Here are the details:

In-contract, 2-year subsidized device customers must pay off remaining ETF. <-- Incorrect. Asking this specific question, I was told by CSR that if you were eligible to order the iPhone 7 on a Next plan, your previous phone is eligible for the trade in deal.
Not stackable with $650 switcher credit
1Req's well-qualified credit. Tax due at sale. Pay up to 3 installments before credits start. If wireless svc is cancelled, iPhone balance is due. Fees, charges & restrs apply. Subject to change. Void in Ct, RI, Miami-Dade

It feels too much like I'm just supposed to take their word, and then there's this line "Promotion, terms, and restrictions subject to change and may be modified or terminated at any time without notice."
I'm scared they are just baiting the unlimited folks to screw us over.
***Notes for those who are thinking about buying a used iPhone 6 and trade it in for the promo****
1) If eBay listing says 'locked to AT&T', it generally means that the phone has installment payments left and is tied to an AT&T Next account. This means you will likely not be able to trade the phone in.
The installments are the sole reason why AT&T iphones are being sold as 'Locked' to AT&T. If the phones did not have payments on them, the sellers would have been able to just go to AT&T unlock webpage, complete the unlock process and sell the phones as 'Unlocked'.
However, since AT&T will not unlock phones with pending payments, the sellers just sell those phones as AT&T LOCKED.
2) If you are spending $300 to buy an iPhone 6 for the promo, know what you're getting into.
$300-$350 for iPhone 6 used
$20 Upgrade Fee
$129 2nd year warranty opportunity cost (since you pay with 'bill credits', you will not get 2nd year warranty from credit card and may need Applecare for 2nd year warranty)
If you weren't going to buy with a credit card that offers extended warranty, DISREGARD THIS STATEMENT..
Note, you are locking yourself to the carrier for 2 full years to get the $650 credits back.
Addtional $95 Savings through Sams Club
Sams Club is also offering activation waived ($20) through Sep 16-18 and $75 GC through Sep 25, for AT&T Customers along with the trade in offer
WARNING: If you placed the order on att.com on the last day (9/25), go and check your order status and look for Order date, because it may have slipped by one day. It's likely to be 9/26 on the webpage. If that's the case, you are NOT eligible for this offer (I've confirmed with AT&T customer rep). Unreasonable, but this is how it works.
