3gb is not enough. 4gb is okay. i had the 970 3.5gb and it wasnt enough. 1440p on some games runs good with the gtx 1060. Take the beta battlefield 1... needs more vram at that res. Do yourselves a favor and get the 6gb 1060 or the 4/8gb rx 480.... not the 3gb 1060. So much power just to be limited by vram...
yes you are right... its a dumbed down version. Another reason to get the 6gb. Btw i hope it doesnt happen to you but i bought and returned the same gigabyte 1060 6gb model at frys and it had horrible coil whine and no quiet fans. (i just wanted to test a 1060 at the time against the 480 myself). I went with the msi gaming x 6gb 1060 after. Best decision made. So cool and quiet.. but i guess you get what you pay as that version is 290.

I agree, and personally I think 3GB is enough and $50 more for 6GB is really not worth it. Take note this is on par with RX 480 and they said with the older GTX 980!! So yeah I just want to share a good find.

I ran the BF1 beta at 3440x1440 with a 970 (ASUS STRIX) with no issues and good frame rate.

I cannot argue on your reasoning, but for what I do and use the computer for I am good with 3GB. I agree that it is more beneficial to get the 6GB but in my case 6Gb is not worth $50 more.

Yup, the 3GB 1060 is basically the 1050.

Seems like gigabyte has a coil whine problem with the 1060 and 1070 cards. You might not notice it if you have a loud PC. I will pass and wait for a card without a whiny reputation.

if you are content with the 3gb i suggest you get this

https://jet.com/product/GEFORCE-G...6ba1ad2194

it is even bit more but you wont have to deal with coil whine and the cooler is top notch
that is if there isnt a size limitation

I put the 1060 6GB into my wife's comp and it is pretty nice. The black worked well for her black and white aesthetic. I think I paid like 10$ more a week or two ago. Good deal.

These are some great deals, I just don't know how good the cooler on this is. MSI aftermarket coolers are fantastic, but they come at a premium.
