Looks like this is a much better deal than having to wait for 24 month bill credits...
confirmation - https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-32234

1. Buy iPhone 7/7 Plus from T-Mobile at Costco (new/existing customers) - available Sep 16
Must be purchased with EIP/finance plan.

2. Trade in any iPhone 6 or newer model to a T-Mobile store and get $165 or more applied toward the EIP depending on model.

3. Submit rebate application within 30 days at https://promotions.t-mobile.com using promo code 16SeptiPhone7

4. Remaining balance between phone price and trade-in value (for example, 650-165=485 for an iPhone 6) will be paid as a prepaid MasterCard within 8 weeks of submission.

5. Don't drop your new iPhone in the toilet (or do, since it's now waterproof! woot)

This is what shows up when I submit my trade-in request by clicking on the link for Costco customers on T-Mobile website (that link is below on this page)

2016 Sept iPhone 7 Trade-Up Costco Terms & Conditions
Limited time offer; subject to change. For well qualified customers. Plus taxes & fees; tax on full price due at sale. Get entry model iPhone 7 for $0 (w/ iPhone 6S or 6S+ trade-in) after mail-in rebate. Get entry model iPhone 7+ for $0 (with iPhone 6S+ trade-in) or $100 (with iPhone 6S trade-in) mail-in rebate. Qual'g service and 24 mo. finance agreement required. You must complete trade-in process and submit rebate request within 30 days of purchase and remain active and in good standing with T-Mobile when rebate is processed. Rebate is via Prepaid MasterCard(R) Card issued by Citibank, N.A. pursuant to a license from MasterCard International and managed by Citi Prepaid Services. Card terms and conditions apply. Allow up to 8 weeks for processing. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance at full price is due. May not be combined with other promotional offers.

By proceeding, I verify I have read and agree to the Terms & Conditions of this promotion.

Nobody knows what the trade-in value will be in form of Mastercard rebate.

*******************************************************************************

A lot of misinformation going around this thread. The prepaid MasterCard rebate is for the trade-in value NOT the remaining balance after the trade-in. The last line of the source: "After you complete the process, you should receive your rebate of the trade-in value in the form of a Prepaid MasterCard(R) card within eight weeks."

You are NOT getting a free phone, you will still be making the payments on the remaining after the trade-in. You will only be getting the trade-in value in a form of a prepaid MasterCard instead of a credit towards the new phone. No where does it say that you are getting the rebate for the remaining balance, that's just the assumption OP made.

*******************************************************************************

From what I understand

Say your iPhone 6 has a trade in value of $300 (not actual value I'm picking a nice even number to use)

1. You buy the iPhone 7 from Costco and you give them the 6. The 7 must be on EIP (No. You trade in your iPhone 6 to T-Mobile, not Costco)

2. You get a $300 Mastercard giftcard from Costco. You pay the taxes to Costco (Where is this magical $300 come from?)

3. You go onto the website linked in the original post with the promo code and sign up there.

4. Tmobile gives you a $350 credit (to make it $650 total). This credit is spread over 24 months.

Compare this with going through Tmobile. Tmobile gives you the trade in value up front and the rest over 24 months as bill credit. This looks like the exact same deal going through Tmobile but you get a Mastercard instead of upfront credit for your trade in. You're still locked in for 24 months.

In fact it's more work going through Costco cause you still need to do the credit rebate online.

Costco members
If you're a Costco customer, you can submit your rebate information by going to https://promotions.t-mobile.com and using the Promotion Code 16SeptiPhone7. You must complete the trade-in process and submit your rebate request within 30 days of purchase and remain active and in good standing with T-Mobile when rebate is processed. After you complete the process, you should receive your rebate of the trade-in value in the form of a Prepaid MasterCard(R) card within eight weeks.

This is for someone trading in iPhone 5* directly to Tmobile online. Copy/Pasted directly from their twitter DM response.

****************

If you trade in a fully functioning iPhone 5s in good physical condition to get the 128gb iPhone 7 Plus, your down payment would be $149.99 and your monthly payment would be brought down from $30/month to $15.75/month after the $14.25 automatic credit. The preorder uses deferred trade-in and you'll send the iPhone 5s to us once you have the new phone and you'll receive an additional $58 bill credit for the trade-in value of the iPhone 5s within 2 bill cycles of us receiving it and inspecting it.

so, to clarify, the total amount of credits available for all iPhone 6/6+/6s/6s+ is $650 after trade-in.
$400 for iPhone 5/5c/5s/SE.

128 and 256GB iPhone 7 will be $100 and $200 extra out of pocket.
iPhone 7 Plus is $120, $220 or $320 more depending on the 32/128/256GB storage option chosen.

With costco deal we're getting the money in 2 months instead of over 2 years.

The tmobile link says 'For Costco customers, this limited-time offer is available starting September 16, 2016.' am I reading this correctly. Doesn't look like this is a one day deal

Only problem I see with this deal is that there will definitely be a line on launch day and they will eventually sell out of their inventory. What happens then? Raincheck? Wait for a restock? Web order?

Thanks for the post OP.

If cost is all the same and you get the money sooner, then it's a no-brainer to get the Costco instead of T-mobile deal.

I have a 6S Plus 64GB. If I want to upgrade to a 7 Plus 32GB, I will have to pay $120 + tax right?

Last time s7 edge ran out, they shipped it to my house from their warehouse. They have their own cell phone warehouse, Wireless Advocates is responsible for it.
