Good deal, thanks OP. For iOS users the Ring Pro coming out later this year will support HomeKit. This version will not.

still enjoying the ring doorbell we got from the amazon warehouse deal before prime day. motion detection is kind of a disappointment as it still triggers when the garbage truck goes by despite adjusting the settings. But it's a small trade off so that it goes off when a package is delivered or someone walks up to the door but doesn't ring the bell. Supposedly motion is better on the ring pro but I haven't read any comparisons. Having the battery backup on this one (since we have it installed hardwired) is a plus since power does go out occasionally.

It's funny the reaction people give when they see it. I guess it seems odd given the 'not your normal doorbell' appearance or they recognize it from the commercials. Some people opt to knock instead of pressing it or if they do press it to ring they stand to the side or backup thinking they are not on camera.

None of the coupon works on this item as it says "We're sorry, this coupon can't be applied because we're already selling this item at the lowest price the manufacturer allows."

I'm looking at Skybell HD. Seems like more integration options.

how do you use this without hard wiring? I assume that it will eat up the battery like crazy if you don't hard wired it?

YMWV. My account has $12 in 'Surprise Points' that can be applied immediately, and a potential $48 back in SYWR rewards, which gets to $60.

Not sure if the points roll -- but another similarly priced deal if you don't value SYWR points is Costco. They have the Ring Video Doorbell w/additional chime, and a 1-yr free subscription to the Ring Cloud service for $189.99.

This is tempting - I just got one from Bed Bath and Beyond for $171 after the 20% off coupon. I have a bunch of SYR points to burn up though (around $30 or so) so this would have been nice. Big difference though is if I ever decide I don't want the Ring anymore, I can return it to BBB at any time for a full refund. To me, I think that's worth what I paid... especially with newer tech like this.

So, you have to pay subscription fee to record the videos?

Right, and it comes with the Chime. That was for $179~ I believe but that price/promo no longer exists. Current promotion at Costco is around $212 after tax/shipping but includes 1 yr of the cloud recording.

Yes, you have to pay a fee for them to store video - kind of an annoyance and I'm not sure if they'll ever move away from that model or to allow users to record locally (unless someone figures out a way to hack it). As far as the whole privacy thing, it's not a huge deal for us, but to each his/her own.

It has a battery. You'd unscrew the two screws on the bottom and slide off the pack. You'd then charge it via USB micro charger. Mine lasts about 2 months before it needs a charge and it gets triggered about once a day (from vehicle's on the street). If hardwired, no charge is needed. Also, if hard wired you have the option to turn the camera on manually, it does not only come on when triggered as when not hardwired.
