I heard the 2015 are really good. This one has 4.2/5 stars on Coscto, but only 6 reviews. I ended up ordering it bc of Costco's liberal return policy and 3 years warranty, so if it doesn't sound good I can return it, or it breaks I can get it replaced by the warranty.

The big brother of this model is the wireless 5.1 and that sells for $199 on sale (got one from Costco last Dec). Unless you are going to be using the smartcast which is highly unlikely given the plethora of better casting devices, I don't see the value in this model. The $50 extra for the 5.1 version is more than justifiable.

You can control this with Vizio's new app also. But is is buggy. The app keep on losing connection to the soundbar. Sound is pretty decent for the size. I missed the deal on the amazon 5.1 version.

I had a 2014, now have a 2015. They sound the same to me. But the 2015 has an improved remote and auto-off can be disabled. (This 2016 has an even better looking remote.) Detractors are that they both can't go to a low enough volume for late night use, and there's no auto-on or auto-switch to an input when audio is detected (and no HDMI, either).

I've been eyeing this SmartCast model. Having GoogleCast built in will be great if/when Google enables multi-room audio for GoogleCast devices (it's only working for ChromeCast audio devices right now). But...this lowest end model doesn't have HDMI nor the new-style flat subwoofer that the higher end ones from Vizio have. I can forgo the flat sub, but I've decided HDMI arc is essential. I'm sick of dealing with trying to chose the correct input on these.

If you have a vizio tv the volume control on the tv remote will work on the soundbar. If you have the app and you decrease the volume on the tv, the volume will NOT decrease.

I have returned Vizio and bought Sony previously, because Sony is slim and it does not block TV screen.. Sony has front LCD so you know current input and other settings.. And the best of all Sony has 4xHDMI, when connected via HDMI ARC port on my samsung TV I can control volume using TV remote and it also power ON/OFF with TV.
