Haven't had a chance to read these yet, but just about everything Brandon writes is fantastic, so I can't imagine this will be an exception.

It should be noted that these are available without DRM if bought from Google Play or Kindle (at the publisher's request!).

+1 Brandon Sanderson is fantastic. The style in this is different (the main character is writing this book and speaks directly to the reader frequently), but still a lot of fun.

I felt like Brandon Sanderson rushed the ending of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series and I resented him for it, but I've read Mistborn and the 2 Stormlight Archives books since then and enjoyed both, so I've forgiven him. I'll give these a try.

Amazon description at least for the first one: "At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied."

He has stated that writing those books was about 10 times harder than writing his own original works, so I am willing to cut him a little bit of slack. Honestly, I'd rather have him write it than give it to a guy like Lynch, Rothfuss, Martin, or the countless other great fantasy authors who take about 11 years between each book. Brandon is a machine. Plus, is anything worse than Crossroads of Twilight?

I'm a big Sanderson fan so I read the first book with my kids when it came out. IMO, it was pretty unique and had a good storyline, but the witty and sarcastic attitude might get on some people's nerves (it is a teen boy narrating the story). I thought the first book was pretty good for what it was, but didn't end up reading the rest of the series.

The narrative style took a little bit for me too. Sometimes he puts in so many asides it's a bit distracting. I am a huge Sanderson fan too. The first one was good but not a page turner. The second one was better. The third and fourth ones were both awesome (the fourth one has exploding teddy bears!) and the 5th one is sitting on my dresser ready to go when I get time. I recommend them for any Sanderson fan or anyone who likes sarcasm and can read them without taking them seriously. There's many unconventional literary tricks that throw you off, but make the books more fun.

FULLY agree with this! The books got better as they progressed.
